So After We Win, Are We Still 'Underground?'
In addition to throwing out the worst president in American history, we'll also have to take on a whole new perspective regarding our role in the world of politics.

That is, as members of the true American majority party!

3. Nah. We'll still be Underground
Because, as true dems, we'll start debating (argueing?) about what Kerry isn't doing correctly. We LOVE to argue.

6. Yes, and I think we should!
Remember, that's the was the neo-cons managed to gain the power they now have! They kept it under the radar, but started 30+ years ago gaining local positions, then Governorships, then the House & Senate...look where theya re now!

It's always a good thing to learn from your enemy! We need to keep our fight "Under ground" but constant!!!

8. What I'm concerned about is this:
When Kerry wins, are we going to allow more critical discussion? For example, if he doesn't hasten the transition out of Iraq and instead continues Bush's failed policies, how will we handle that?

I do not expect to agree with him on everything (and I would imagine that the same applies to most of us here), and I would not want to see serious criticism stifled for the sake of the appearance of unity.

9. Hell, we cannot be 'above ground'
...until we take back the House, the Senate and the Supreme Court. Once we have all of those, the turnabout is fair, the playing field is leveled, and we will have the very same advantages that the GOP has had, as they wiped their asses gleefully on our Constitution for these past four hellish years.

Give us those institutions, and we will show them HOW TO DO IT. Of the people, by the people, for the people! Then we can pop our heads up from underground, like little prairie dogs!

10. Yes, we will still be "underground" even if everyone knows who we are..
because, as the "underground", we can never be accepted as the mainstream. The Democratic Party never has to associate themselves with us - even though they may read and participate. But, they can never admit to being part of the "underground" because a candidate cannot win in America at this time in history by being a part of any "underground" movement.

But, there is an advantage in that. It is a select group of individuals that discuss and brainstorm political ideas to defeat the fascists. We encourage the fascists to read "underground" posts, even though we don't permit their participation if they disrupt in any fashion or start to spill some right-wing ideology from the likes of Limbaugh and Hannity, for example.

After the election, the fascists and propagandists are not going away. That is why we need soldiers on the front line of truth to counter their destructive ideas and policies. This battle is not yet won.

15. I agree...
we will need to remain on the leading edge of true democracy, fighting fascism at every turn and making sure Kerry follows up on his promise of moving toward oil independence. The Evangelist/Fundamentalist trend is not going away any time soon and we will need to defend American founding principles.

12. Yes, since we're not an official part of the Democratic Party. . .
...but we've got more work out there to do - to root out the neocons and fundies out of public office. We also have to reform, or if need be, take over the Democratic Party from the likes of Lieberman, Zell, etc.

Our work has just started.

13. This crazy place will always be Democratic Underground.

It's a brand name, like Google or Amazon.

It's a spirit that underlies this place. Come here,
find your sanity. You're not alone.

The media hasn't changed, the wingnuts will be outraged
to the core and do their best to try to destroy Kerry.
We'll need this place more than ever.

14. Aye, because the fight has only just begun
One won battle does not equal victory.

Clinton won two terms -- and look what the Repugs did. They won't stop just because they lost THIS election.
