Chimp: 1st candidate in history not to reach out to undecided voters? |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 05:11 PM by Senior citizen
So you're Mr. and Mrs. Undecided in Big City, Swing State, U.S.A. You go to a Kerry/Edwards rally, and you think, "Well, they're okay, but let's see what the other guy is like."
So you go to a chimp rally, and they tell you that unless you pledge to vote puke, you can't come in--undecideds are not welcome.
Who do you vote for?
KERRY IN A LANDSLIDE!

3. ya know I've been thinking the same thing for weeks. It is pretty bad |
|
when Bush has to spend all his time firing up his base and not working on the undecided.
It just adds credence to the rumor that Bush can't handle his temper if questioned about anything. We see how well he did in the debates huh?

5. Not even the first incumbent not to do so... |
|
While the undecided vote usually goes to the incumbent, there have been notable exceptions.
Think Hoover in 1932. "We've almost turned the corner." Detroit police had to tell Hoover to stay out of the city while campaigning because they couldn't guarantee his safety.
Think Jimmy Carter in 1980. Carter really couldn't run on a tough-guy image when Reagan had that sewed up. A goodly portion of the so-called undecideds then came to be known as "Reagan Democrats."
Think George H.W. Bush in 1992. By the end of the campaign, he couldn't relate to anyone. By November, he was a wrinkled bag of syntactically garbled sound bites.
But, George W. Bush probably takes the cake. He's likely the first incumbent President who's gone out of his way to scare people into voting for him, and to alienate everyone of the voters in the opposition party. One would think that, after three years of the same, he might ease up a bit. But, no, he's got his hands firmly on the helm of the Titanic, and he's not gonna let go.

6. It was almost like that (Hoover) in New York for the puke convention, |
|

except they had a lot more police than Detroit in '32. With half of New Yorkers believing LIHOP or MIHOP, that city will never be safe for the chimp or his gang.
In fact, a couple of days from now they may have trouble guaranteeing his safety in Crawford.
On edit: The Titanic analogy scares me. I want the chimp going down, but not taking us with him. I'm worried about a November or December surprise, like Cheney setting off a dirty bomb in a major city and blaming it on terrorists, so they can declare martial law and nullify the election. If I were in charge, I wouldn't allow President Kerry and Vice-President Edwards to be in the same city at the same time between election day and the inauguration.
