Republicans and this "They're gay, your gay, your mother

wears army boots and she's gay too" thing this year is beyond disturbing. Salon has an article today discussing the venom toward democratic protesters outside a Bush rally in Florida where the favorite line of the evening among those attending was to tell the dems how gay they are. A couple of days ago a high school student here wrote about this kid in his class with whom he was discussing the election and who went the Kerry and Edwards are gay lovers and oh yeah, your gay too route.

The republican party, ever since welcoming in the Dixiecrats and Strom Thurman into the party after the 1948 Democratic convention, have been a haven for hate mongers. This worries me deeply as I now think the biggest threat to our culture is not the slutty clothes in the junior department at the local dept. store or the crap on TV, but rather the fact that we have the party in power that is not only tolerant of hate, but actually foments it in order to keep power. This is so reminiscent of Germany in the 1930's it is terrifying.

1. Oh you're not allowed to draw parallel to 1930's Germany
It could 'never happen here.' Could it?

3. And they never mature beyond that.
The bizarre thing is why would this be an insult to us?

what are they, a pack of third graders?

If someone called me gay I'd say thank you and I'm not even gay. Maybe I'd say "yes I am a very happy person, thanks."

They're so damn weird, I swear. I was called a socialist once and I asked the guy what he expected my reaction to be. Was I supposed to be hurt, angry, insulted, what? I told him I figured he expected some kind of negative reaction and I wanted to be sure to get it right, LOL. He seemed put off that I didn't know how to react. I mean, I don't place any negative value on the word "socialist" but I'm not technically a socialist. I just ended up explaining that to him. Totally killed his "lemme insult a liberal buzz" by explaining all that and after a few minutes he just started trying to get away from me.

Gay, LOL! Um, ok.

6. From what I have heard ...
homophobes that are so uncertain about their masculinity that they obsess with calling other people gay are the first one's to bend over to pick up the soap in the prison shower!

So, what can you expect from prison bitches in waiting?

They need to be reminded of that ;)

Blood runs thicker than political waters ...
gays & lesbians cross all geographic, cultural, religious, race, and economic boundaries.

So long Karl, and thank you for the fish!
