Where Nader Voters Come From (you may be surprised)
I had dinner with my across-the-street neighbors tonight. Since I know that both of them are generally "red" in terms of political profile, I was a little surprised at how things shook out during the political discussion (which I promised not to bring up, but hey, what are the odds). The wife described Bush as a "moron" but said she didn't like Kerry either. Asked me what I liked about him, I did my best to answer. Now we come to the husband, who supported the Iraq war, thought Saddam Hussein was the next Hitler, thinks Clinton was a national embarrassment, is mad at Kerry for as he sees it having accused him and every other Vietnam vet in the country of being guilty of war crimes, watches Fox ("the only REAL channel"), thinks CNN is too left wing, and taunted me with the CBS forged memos thing and then wouldn't believe me when I described the setup.

So who is Mr. Fox-watchin' red-state-livin-in Iraq-war-supportin' Kerry-hatin' Neighbor Man voting for on Tuesday?

Ralph Nader.

I said, "Well, I voted Nader in 2000 and I'm sure as hell not gonna do it again...what is Nader's platform these days, anyhow?"

"Doesn't matter."

As he sees it, he hates both candidates and so he's gonna write in Nader, who is not on the ballot in our state.

I invited both of them to my election night party. We'll see what happens.

In other news, I used 6 pumpkins to spell out "KERRY 2004" (one for each letter in Kerry plus the 2004 pumpkin) and put them up along my driveway. They look good! I got another 7 in the garage I'm gonna use to spell out "EDWARDS."

yee ha,

The Plaid Adder

1. Nader always believed he would take twice as many votes from * as Kerry.
P.S. I am not a Nader apologist.

2. I know one of those types.
According to my sister, who knows him better, he's a diehard conservative who just can't bring himself to vote for a Democrat.

What I know about him I like. Go figure.

3. I'm begining to not care about these people
Screw em...if they cant see we are heading towards fascism, then screw em...one of two things will happen. 1. Kerry will win, and we will have an opportunity to save our democracy or 2. bush* will win and I will move to Europe. I am confident in the former, so Im not sweating it at all. But these people will hate ANYONE in office...If Nader pulled out a stunning upset, and everyone decided he was the man, I guarantee these people will bitch about that too. These are people who, no matter who is running, say they hate both candidates. Screw 'em. Their opinion is as useless as their vote is going to be.
