Normally, they weight it towards Republicans...

4. They don't actually weight toward Republicans.

They just usually oversample Republicans, because that's who is whom when they call. Unlike some other pollsters, they don't correct for this problem.

Generally, I don't like weighting for party ID. However, when your party ID is way out of line with what you know about the data set, it's time to repoll and hope you get a more representative sample this time.
