General Clark Replies to Cheney
<General Wesley Clark released the following statement today on Dick Cheney's remarks about John Kerry:

“Vice President Cheney should be ashamed of himself for his last ditch efforts to mislead Americans about John Kerry. George Bush and Dick Cheney turned their back on our troops by attempting to cut their combat pay while our troops faced enemy fire on the front lines in Iraq and Afghanistan. They turned their back on our troops when they sent them into combat without the body and vehicle armor they needed, and then opposed reimbursing families who were forced to buy their loved ones this needed body armor. They turned their back on our troops by cutting funding for VA hospitals and by reducing the availability of health insurance.

“The Bush administration has neglected our troops and used them. It has failed them. Troops need good leadership with a strategic plan and a vision for success. George Bush has given them neither. By failing to use all the tools of diplomacy to reinforce our military efforts in Iraq, George Bush has let the troops down.

“It's appalling that Dick Cheney has the audacity to question John Kerry's commitment to our troops. The Bush Cheney campaign is showing its desperation.”>

13. Go General! Go General! Go General!
I loooove my General! :loveya:

He has been such a great spokesman and supporter for Kerry, and nobody can dismiss what he says in regard to the military. Sharp as a tack, bold as a brick, with a charming smile -- what an amazing man he is.

15. The General Is Correct
Clark is right on point about what Bush has done to his troops. As a veteran that uses his VA hospital as primary care, Bush has clearly reduced funding for VA health care.
In an insipid chat with a Bush supporter today he tried to insist that Bush did not cut VA health care. I hit him with a quick fact that I am still waiting on a response for.
I stated that in 1998 under Bill Clinton I was paying $2.00 each, out-of-pocket for each prescription. Now through all of the Bush administration that cost has risen steadily to where now, again under Bush, I now pay $7.00 each, out-of-pocket (co payment) for each prescription I am issued and I hear talk of even increasing that figure to $9.00 each. That is a rather high percentage of increase to veterans health care costs for only one presidential term. As I said I am still waiting on an answer from the Bush idiot. But that's so true to form. When you nail a Bush supporter that's what they always do. They just shut up and don't say anything where they could say they were wrong and previously mis-informed.
