Kerry Crowd in Decorah Four Times Larger Than Expected
John Kerry is asking Iowans to stand with him during Monday's first-in-the-nation caucuses -- and to bring some people along.

In Decorah today, the Massachusetts senator was greeted by a crowd of about 500 people at Luther College. That's about four times larger than expected.

In his remarks, he touched on national security, jobs and the economy.

Kerry also took a short break from the campaign trail and tossed around a football with some students for about 15 minutes. He played quarterback.

When he got to the school's auditorium, he reported that Team Kerry had defeated Luther College.

2. That's wonderful news
My wife went to Luther. It's a great school. Decorah is such a nice town (love those Ronnies Rolls!)

I saw the Kerry HQ when we were there last November. Looks like John is popular there. Good for him :)

4. I never heard of it. How small is the town?
I thought I was getting to know all the names of the towns there, but that's a new one.

5. Here's some info
http://www.decorah-iowa.com/contentDisplay.asp?id=

I would say its population is about 9000 people. It's the county seat of Winneshiek county in the northeast part of the state. Heavy Norwegian influence. The college campus is real nice.

8. 2 freight trains speeding through Iowa
Their names are Kerry and Edwards, and it's left Dean in the dust.

I'm very impressed with Kerry, the guy was left for dead 1 month ago

6. Good post.
But it made me a little jealous of the folks in Iowa, who get to vote before most of the rest of us.

Still, I liked the image of Kerry playing outside in the Iowa winter. Seems as if the last time we had a presidential candidate who played outdoors was Kennedy.

9. Scotty did that or "Star Trek"
Kirk: "Mr. Scott, have you always multiplied your repair estimates by a factor of four?"

Scott: "Of course, sir - how else am I to maintain my reputation as a miracle worker?"

;)
