Republicans get a whiff of the stench of defeat
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/31/politics/campaign/31road.html

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 30 - There is a good deal of nail biting going on at the mostly picture-perfect campaign rallies held for President Bush.

Terry Buck, a first-grade teacher from Cleveland, feels the nervousness. So does Jim Nichols, a municipal purchasing officer from Saginaw, Mich. Both turned up this week at big events for the president near their homes. While they cheered endlessly, they also fretted some.

Ms. Buck and Mr. Nichols say the election is much too close. Mr. Bush should be trouncing Senator John Kerry. Something is not quite right, and like many of their fellow Republicans, they share the belief that the news media has played a role by skewing coverage in Mr. Kerry's favor.

For unsettled Republican voters in battleground states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Hampshire, the last leg of the presidential contest has at times been more of a group therapy session than a victory march.

3. Yep, its all the fault of the Liberal Media...

(As far as I'm concerned, if it wasn't for Faux News and the right-wing radio talk-show hosts, we'd be up by at least 10% by now.)

4. The only skewing towards Kerry the media has done ...
was occassionally reporting something resembling the truth. As Jon Stewart said, reality has an anti-Bush bias.

5. Let me get this straight.
FAUX, CNN, MSRNC, and the rest breathlessly report * being ahead by 1 point in a poll as "opening a lead", while Kerry pulling ahead by 3-4 pts is still a "neck and neck" race.

Sinclair Broadcasting, with tons of stations around the country, makes their own anti-Kerry propaganda film and airs it.

Every media whore parrots the * talking points. Coverage pulls away from any Kerry event when * clears his throat.

And they believe the media is "skewing coverage" towards Kerry.

The reality you have to deny to be a Repuke...

12. "Something is not quite right..."

Strange sensation when reality starts to bleed into such carefully constructed illusions.

Germans in 1945 had the same sort of feeling. Despite everything their leader told them, despite the countless assurances that everything was quite alright, that they were winning the war, that they were right and just in their cause, the Russians and Americans and British and Canadians, et al still showed up and forced the blindfold from their eyes.

These fascists are about to get a rude awakening. I'm not even pretending to be polite about it anymore.

15. You hit the nail on the head.
It's always ugly when cognitive dissonance begins its deconstruction. I think that's where some of these folks are at.

13. Want To Make Yourself ill? Read the article.
Oh poor Bush, says part of the article. He has endured so much so say some Bush supporters. They say poor Bush.............poor, poor Bush has had to endure a war(which he started) and a contentious election in 2000(which he caused). I'm not kidding. To read the article the Bush people are saying Bush is actually a "victim" of the war and the election of 2000. They are saying the election is way too close. Closer than it was supposed to be. They seem to think Bush should have opened up a 50 point lead at the GOP election and kept it.
Of course the election not going the way they think it should be going is certainly not Bush's fault. Lord no. It has to be the media or someone or something Else's fault. Hey what ever happened to god? Why hasn't god made the election a "run-a-way" for Bush I mean after all he is divinely chosen isn't he?
