Their 'proof' is that his discharge was in 72, but his records show a date of '78 (because they were re-issued after being lost - typical, as my roomate's navy records are the same). Thats it. Kerry went from ACTIVE DUTY NAVY to RESERVES NAVY.

Kerry was an OFFICER.

OFFICERS KEEP their commissions UNTIL they RESIGN IT. Officers DO NOT get DISCHARGED UNTIL they RESIGN their commissions.

When Kerry left Active Duty he KEPT his commission and went into RESERVES.

He was not given a discharge from ACTIVE DUTY in 1972 because he STILL KEPT HIS COMMISSION as a RESERVE until 1978.

When Kerry RESIGNED HIS COMMISSION in 1978 he got his Honorable Discharge.
