... the Repugs are damned good at getting Demos to take bullets for `em.

But, you should add Bob Dole to the Repug list--even though he's willing to diss Kerry for political purposes, he did get pretty messed up.

3. I am veteran of the Navy six years active.

When i was active I was more for Repugs but after I got out got into 'real' world i found out.

The guys who have never served in the military and only saw movies think Bush is cool.

Those who have served in the military especially active know it is not very glamorous. I am glad i served learned and saw a lot about life and the rest of the world in general. It changed my life and had helped me to be better person.


The military itself is not the problem of course its the civilian leadership we have at moment. It is a disgrace and needs to be removed on Tuesday.

I will not have my patriotism questioned by these assholes or anyone who agrees with them.

4. I"ve seen this posted on other boards

And it is really a skewed vision of who served and who did not.

For example, your list doesn't contain John McCain, Bob Dole, other republicans that did serve.

You also have listed a whole bunch of media people for the republicans, but not for the democrats.

Just warning you before you forward it on to freeper friends and get slapped. . .

5. There is a stereotype that evolved during Vietnam

that Democrats are "peaceniks" and thus weak, and Republicans are "warriors" and thus strong.

It was NEVER an equation that made any sense or even had an ounce of basis in truth, but it grew into a popular opinion that has stuck.

There are of course lots of notable democrats who did not serve, and there probably are more republicans who did. The original list did not have John McCain, which was a significant lapse. George H.W. Bush should be on that list. Colin Powell.

.... but who knew he was a fighter pilot who daily strapped a bomber to his ass and flew over Germany when they were dropping our guys like flies? Who knew this when he ran as the antiwar candidate in 68?

As Sparkly said earlier, this crap that Dems are peaceniks and Reps are warriors is just that ..... crap.

I, too, will not have my patriotism (as military service is termed today) questioned by some hypocritical asshat who didn't serve. But neither will I criticize those who choose not to serve so long as they come to that choice honestly.

Chris Matthews to the Peace Corps ... okay with me .......... Tom DeLay, who sez he couldn't serve cuz all the blacks took the slots ... fuck you! Hey Cheney .... I got yer other priorities .... right here!
