I need advice: I have no way to watch cable and be on DU at once Tuesday |
|
I have a great DSL connection at home but no cable - the people I know, Including my fiancée's mother who is a Democratic Mayor in CT, can offer the TV but not the DU highspeed access I need to stay in touch with my peeps. What should I do?
Should I stay at home and DU with NPR playing in the background or should I make my fiancée's Mom's house election headquarters with no DU?

26. Look for "TV tuner PC" on Google. It's a cheap card you stick |
|
into your PC and you can watch TV on your PC (you still need some kind of antenna, but a piece of copper wire would work :)...

Will c-span or anyone else be reporting elections online? another question. During the course of this campaign I have donated to all sorts of people running for congress, and except for the big ones like nancy farmer, and Dean dozen etc...I don't actually remember who they are.but I'll probably recognize the names. will the different state forums here at DU be reporting results of congressional races?

You have 1,000+ posts; I have a measly number, as I've only been posting at DU since the post election online polling. But I am already addicted...as I'm sure you are. DU on election night. No DU for you is not an option.

9. Thanks Shell! I'm torn - I have been through many a high paced event and |
|
found that the aftermath leaves more to discuss than the heat of battle! I want to see what loved ones are saying tho'!
This'll be a tough call!

10. Watch cable at your fiancees house. Sharing that experience with |
|
people (in the flesh) will be worhtwhile, and DU will be there the morning after. I wish I had a group to watch it with to scream at the tv, but will be home with my toddler and hubby, who is sick of my political junkie-ism (though he does hate Bush).

|
I can be at home alon with the internet(s), or I can gather with other progressives at some place (there are several options). Haven't decided yet... I'll probably wait at home for the first results and then join the crowd to celebrate.

12. I think DU will be up and running but.. |
|
I also think that watching TV will be more fun...watching the media pundits falling apart over the Kerry landslide. Lucky me though , I can do both.

|
Sorta. Trying to decide whether to go to a watch party or sit at home with a 6-pack and DU.
I've decided on the watch party. DU will be here when I get back from there, but there's really no substitute for the interaction with people in the flesh during these kinds of events.

15. Oh Chavez, that would be a |
|
rough one but I would choose DU. And then watch one of the big three (probably CBS). They'll be on all night with election results. No cable required.

Seriously; we need every hand on deck. If you live in a "safe state", then go to www.truemajority.org and phonebank for a swing state from home.

Who are you DUers watching? I'll probably channel surf! Maybe we can do a poll, as a post, listing the various choices. (I don't know how to post a poll, but I've voted on them here). I'm surious.

According to tvguide.com, for instance, NBC will be having 420 minutes of election coverage, as will ABC, CBS, FOX local, et cetera.

That's my only advice, for hugs to celebrate. Whether that's at fiancée's mother's home, or at your own home.
