Have they addressed this at all? I imagine they have back up generators, but this seems like a HUGE liability! Just another reason computer voting is a bad idea.

nearly tamper-proof machines have 12-hour batteries. And there are paper provisional ballots.

Sorry to disappoint you, but strap on your seat belts and get ready for the trainwreck of all elections. Tuesday is bound to be a nightmare.
I can't tell you how many counties are running new paperless systems in what is effectively is a beta test.
Power backups? They don't got no stinking backups! Hell, $100 added to an array of $3k DREs - no way these fools thought of that.
Worse than that, my guess is that there are thousands of the voting machines in people's garages and living rooms at the moment, totally unsecured.
