In some states if you vote by early and then die, your vote does not count
Amazing:

RALEIGH, N.C. - In what would be her last conscious act, 90-year-old Trixie Porter gripped a pen in her weak, trembling hand, checked the candidates of her choice, and scrawled a squiggled signature on her absentee ballot.

Within an hour, the petite woman who had been suffering from heart problems lay back in her hospital bed, closed her eyes and did not wake again. Her ballot arrived at her local election board two days later, Oct. 5 -- the day she died.

''We commented that day that it probably won't count,'' said her daughter Cheryl McConnell. ``But she went to her grave not knowing any different. It counted with her.''

The move toward early voting in Florida and several other states has underscored a seldom contemplated wrinkle in the electoral system. People who cast early votes, then die before Election Day, have no right to have their ballots count -- at least in most states.

1. That is if the Board Of Elections knows who died
They would have to take the time on election day to search the obituaries and determine who voted and who died.
Most places do not take the time to do that.
So if you voted absentee and die, have them put you on ice until Wednesday.

2. Technically, true, but the article says most votes will count. How will
they know you died? I don't think they're going to call everyone at midnight on November 2 to make sure they're still ticking.

10. Absentee ballots are not so secret
You put your name on the envelope and it is opened on Election Day or day before and voted by the people in charge of the absentee voting.

13. The Ballot Is Secret But They Know If You Voted Or Not...
They check your voter ID...

Could you imagine the fraud if they didn't have that check...

It would become like an online poll...

7. And if you've
cast the ballot in person in an early voting location there's simply no way of knowing how you voted.

11. Why is this amazing?
In the old days, everyone voted on a single day, and if you couldn't, your vote didn't count. The 1st Tuesday after a Monday was the day to vote - so beck then, if you weren't alive then, you didn't vote.
It just follows that the votes aren't "counted" until election day, and you would have to be alive on election day to vote.
