Andy Rooney had an interesting take on Bush's flip-flopping on religion.
For what it's worth, in his comments at the end of 60 Minutes Sunday, Andy Rooney noted that Bush has changed his religion three times--from Episcopalian to Presbyterian to Methodist.

This strikes me funny, considering how devoutly religious Bush wants us to believe he is.

2. Interesting I think.
A man who goes with who will vote for him. He also does not go to church I understand. What does that mean. I guess we will have to read the 'prayer of the day' and see what he thinks today.

3. I have to admit that I don't find changing denominations all that
surprising or a problem. In a normal person, it could be looked at as trying to find the denomination that best reflects your own perception of what god is. Or of looking for the denomination that best challenges you to be your best. My mother did this through the years, and her reasoning was that she felt all religions have a piece of the truth, but that she wanted to find the one that best allowed her access, that she felt challenged by and whose views she was comfortable with.

In *s case, though, considering how the Methodist's feel about him, you have to wonder if he is trying to get away from clergy that have tried to make him face hard truths. He usually looks defensive in those church step photo ops of him talking to ministers. I have to wonder what they are saying to him.

"You know George, you AREN'T the messiah"
"There's are commandments about killing, lying, etc...."
"You little hypocrite"

5. "Changed" or "kicked out"? I don't think the Methodists want him either.

6. As a former fundie, I find it extremely curious that Bush was ever
devoted to ANY of those xtian sects. His behavior is much, much more in line with Baptist or possibly non-denominational/pentecostal/charismatic dogma.

These particular groups are RABID in their devotion to the inerrancy of the bible(creationism-anti-science) and the "born again" experience.

Hmmm, could it be that georgie is just shuckin' and jivin' about his religious experience for the benefit of the real fundies???
