This is a new thread- if trends continue to go our way, I look forward to checking in to the delusional ranting:

whats the news on early polling?

Posted on 11/01/2004 5:27:58 AM PST by BuckeyeGOP

first I hear W is winning in early fla polling, now I here it's flipped drastically to Kerry. I've heard the same stuff in IA. Where's our bloggers with the scoop?

If I may give some advice, don't worry about early voting...either way. Just do everything you can to get out the vote. Don't get complacent if Bush is up, don't get down if Bush is down. It does not matter who is leading in the beginning of the race, what matters is who ends with the most votes.

Don't worry. they're going off of a subgroup of an already small sample. This is utter bull$h!t. 30% of maybe 500 to 800 people at best. These are polls of somewhere around 200 people. So they are getting maybe 15 more Kerry voters than Bush voters. This is what we call the science of small numbers, or in logic terms, a fallacy of hasty generalizations.

Also keep in mind that conservative voters are much more likely to vote on Election Day, like normal people. It's mostly going to be the energized Bush haters who are out voting early (and hopefully not often.)

I vote on election day.

I voted for President Bush in Duval County last week & no one polled me. So that is at least one vote he received.

1. GOP "truth"--"normal" people vote ON Election Day?
Well, if "normal" means = "Republican", I'd toss my lot in with the non-normal people!

7. That jumped out at me also.
I have always been under the impression that the pukes did better than Dems with early voting/absentee balloting. Not this time.

17. That's what I heard too
That early voting usually goes more Republican - maybe because more of the early voting states are red?

15. yes, eating the brains of a live monkey is a delicacy in Thailand
however, if they cracked open Bush's skull it would hardly be an appetizer's-worth, so you've GOT to fry him

14. "no one polled me"
Shows a typical (or a lot of people, not just Freepers) misunderstanding of the concept of sampling
