U.S. President: John F. Kerry
Although John F. Kerry was not our first choice in the primaries, he has consistently proved himself to be presidential, reality-based, and a man with enough integrity and intelligence to make the hard decisions and change course when necessary. We appreciate that when he voted to authorize President Bush to use force in Iraq, he said: “Let me be clear, the vote I will give to the President is for one reason and one reason only: To disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, if we cannot accomplish that objective through new, tough weapons inspections in joint concert with our allies.” Hardly a “flip-flop.”

Bush hurried to war when there was no imminent threat to U.S. security. And “the peace” has not gone well. We believe Kerry can bring allies to the table and get international support for overcoming the insurgency and beginning the peacekeeping and rebuilding in Iraq. Kerry has a firm grasp on our domestic needs—the need to start reducing the deficit, to repeal a poorly timed war-time tax cut on the wealthy, to improve health-care costs and access, to fully fund federal education mandates, to protect the homeland and protect our civil liberties. As he proved during the debates, Kerry has the ability to articulate his thoughts clearly and to communicate well, whether within his administration, to the American people and with leaders of other nations. Bush does not have this ability, nor does he have an international or domestic record to make four more years worthwhile. To paraphrase Mr. Reagan’s very simple question in 1980: “Are we better off now than we were four years ago?” Vote John Kerry for president.

And read what they have to say about the Clarion Ledger (biggest daily in MS) endorsing Bush this year, when they endorsed Gore four years ago:
