Just Overheard in My Office
"I don't know which of the two guys to vote for tomorrow. It will probably come down to a coin toss."

Now, I am conflicted.

On one hand, it bothers me that someone would make such a critical decision about the future of our children, our country, our Democracy, and our world on the basis of a coin toss.

On the other hand, someone that stupid would probably normally vote for Bush, and this gives Kerry a 50/50 shot at that vote.

Kerry. Just a thought.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Oil prices may cost as much as 10 percent less next year if U.S. Democratic challenger John Kerry (news - web sites) defeats President Bush (news - web sites) in Tuesday's election, some energy analysts said on Monday.
-snip-
Oil prices have jumped to record highs of more than $55 a barrel on concerns over tight supplies, unreliable shipments from war-torn Iraq (news - web sites) and growing demand from countries like China and India.

On Monday, a day ahead of the election, oil prices recoiled more than two dollars to dip below $50.

PFC predicts an average oil price of $43 a barrel in 2005 if Kerry wins, compared with $48 if Bush is reelected ."

5. Approach the person and ASK him/her what their
thoughts are about the two candidates. That will give you a good idea of what approach to use. Also it will be easier to start a dialog.

6. Well, if This Gives You Any Indication...
He also said he might vote for the US Taxpayers Party.

I think he's a Republican (he fits the profile, though that can be deceiving sometimes). Based on what I know about him, he's an old-school conservative that realizes that Bush is not a true conservative, but doesn't want to vote for Kerry because of "loyalty" to the Republican party.

8. Tell him to vote for the Libertarian, if one is on the ticket.
At least Smirk won't get the vote.

12. That's What I Don't Get
I think everyone 18+ should vote. But I think that they should become informed, first.

10. Tell him to vote Libertarian.
That way he doesn't have to feel like he 'betrayed' the GOP, but he's also NOT going to vote for Bush.
