16. Florida's going to Kerry
I'm as certain of this as I am of an overall Kerry win. Just think of the disenfranchised black voters in 2000 and the line from CCR's 'Born on the Bayou': "My papa said son don't let the man do what he done to me." There's no fucking way they will be shut out this time.

53. I hear ya LilKim; but how do we (you) explain
Jeb Bush and Katherine Harris being rewarded in 2002 with re-election as governor and promotion to Congresswoman. I just don't get it. Not trying to be argumentative, but where were these "disenfranchised black voters" then? I'm praying they show up for Kerry but I don't know ...

62. We got Freeped in 2002
The GOP spread a false message, if you vote for the Democrat he'll bring in income taxes. This was the kiss of death and the Dems didn't fight it like they should have.

We didn't fight at all like we should have in 2002, fool me once... won't get fooled again. I came from a GOTV event in Polk County today. I can tell you the Dems are fighting like hell in a county that has voted GOP for president for 20 years and I think we will win in Polk County this year. And if we win in Polk County Florida will go blue by a mile.

GOTV it is our weapon of mass constuction! WOOT.

PA (where he has invested a huge amount of time) NM, WI & PA would give him enough (271) and is his last remaining winning scenario (assuming he pulls out Ohio). But that is just impossible imo. I also would have to include HI or it wouldn't work

37. I don't believe Hawaii goes R, no way

Totally amazing that the Bushies think it's worth counting on it. Kerry will win Hawaii by 8 points, at least.

Shrub can have NM. I think we win OH, PA, FL, MI, WI, IA, and maybe one of the southern close ones (my guess is Arkansas, but maybe WV). It's a wrap.

Incumbents don't make last minute schedule changes unless they are in deep doo doo. He should be doing his rose-garden day today. Katy bar the door!

38. I think it's OVER for Bush in Ohio.
Pathetic, dismal turnout at last night's Bush rally at Great American Ballpark (the Cincinnati Reds stadium).

The Bush people claimed 47,000 attendees, but the talk of Cincy today is that there is NO F'IN WAY. The stadium only holds 43,000 with standing room only... last night, they showed the speech live on Cincy TV and avoided panning the crowds, but when they did, NOBODY in the outfield stands, NOBODY in the bleachers, NOBODY on the Moon Deck. Only a few hundred were in the infield, so how they came up with 47,000 is beyond me... OH WAIT!! Maybe they lied?

}(

Just like Chimpy to ex-agg-errrr-ate.

He also has been working to get out the vote among Native Americans, particularly Navajo, who constitute a much larger proportion of eligible voters in New Mexico than in most other states.

17. If he is fighting for New Mexico and Hawaii (Cheney is there) you know
he has given up on Ohio as well. The only way he can make up Ohio is to peel off some smaller Gore states. And that assumes he wins Florida - which is a lousy bet at this point. I think we are seeing an eighty yard Hail Mary pass from a quarterback who has never completed more than a twenty yard pass. And even if the receivor catches the ball he will be tackled short of the end zone and time will expire.

He can't win without Florida. If they steal Florida again, but
can't steal Ohio, they have to take everything else that is in
play or even close.

If Repubs steal both Florida and Ohio, we can still win if we take
everything else that is in play.

57. This is why NM is in trouble
http://www.tompaine.com/articles/an_election_spoiled_rotten.php

"If the vote is stolen here, it will be stolen in Rio Arriba County," a New Mexico politician told me. That's a reasoned surmise: in 2000, one in 10 votes simply weren't counted—chucked out, erased, discarded. In the voting biz, the technical term for these vanishing votes is "spoilage." Citizens cast ballots, but the machines don't notice. In one Rio Arriba precinct in the last go-'round, not one single vote was cast for president—or, at least, none showed up on the machines.

Not everyone's vote spoils equally. Rio Arriba is 73 percent Hispanic. I asked nationally recognized vote statistician Dr. Philip Klinkner of Hamilton College to run a "regression" analysis of the Hispanic ballot spoilage in the Enchanted State. He calculated that a brown voter is 500 percent more likely to have their vote spoiled than a white voter. And It's worse for Native Americans. Vote spoilage is epidemic near Indian reservations.

Votes don't spoil because they're left out of the fridge. It comes down to the machines. Just as poor people get the crap schools and crap hospitals, they get the crap voting machines.

*******************************************************************

Last week Bernalillo County (ABQ) had problems with the touch voting machines. People who would vote for Kerry had their votes showing up for Bush, and vice versa.

32. campaign in Michigan has been left to dirty tricks
LANSING, Mich. - Some Michigan voters have received phone calls falsely claiming that Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry would make gay marriage legal, Kerry's Michigan campaign said Monday.</nitf>

<nitf>Both Kerry and his running mate, Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina, oppose gay marriage and say marriage should be limited to a man and a woman. Kerry has said he supports civil unions.</nitf>

In a recording of a phone call played for The Associated Press, a young woman says: "When you vote this Tuesday remember to legalize gay marriage by supporting John Kerry. We need John Kerry in order to make gay marriage legal for our city. Gay marriage is a right we all want. It's a basic Democrat principle. It's time to move forward and be progressive. Without John Kerry, George Bush will stop gay marriage. That's why we need Kerry. So Tuesday, stand up for gay marriage by supporting John Kerry."</nitf>

<nitf>The calls began Sunday afternoon, according to Rodell Mollineau, spokesman for Kerry's Michigan campaign. The campaign said voters in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Flint and Pontiac received calls.'

34. read this on another blog
Just read this too from someone on another blog who lives in Michigan:

Just heard something strange from the postal carrier who serves our office building (in a college town, in Michigan).  He said that at a meeting first thing this morning all the postal workers at his facility got told that it's mandatory that they work from 6 AM to 6 PM tomorrow, Election Day - no reason given. He was upset that by the time he leaves work he will barely have time to make it to his hometown to vote. Is this happening across the USPS? Just in battleground states? Or is it just a very local thing? Work a 12 hour shift on Election Day, with less than 24 hours notice! What's going on here?
