KERRY PRAYER THREAD
Lord, I ask that you open your blessings on John Kerry and this great nation. Allow Kerry to lead the world to a more peaceful and prosperous place, and heal our division.

I also pray that you expose false prophets and allow the truth to shine on Nov. 2nd.

Add your prayers here . . .

1. God, let your will be shown to the world in the election of John Kerry.
Edited on Mon Nov-01-04 02:22 PM by TexasSissy
John Kerry, who will seek to unite the countrymen, and one country with another. Who will seek to protect all freedoms that you gave us, including the freedom of religion without tyranny. Who will seek to preserve your gifts to us of clean air, clean water, and glorious natural landscapes. Who will seek to preserve all creatures that you have put on the earth.

Amen

55. Lord, when you walked the earth, you were upset by the Pharisees
Lord, when you walked the earth, you were upset by the Pharisees. The Pharisees thought that they were the holiest of men, and they were looked up to by the people for their extensive knowledge of the Scriptures and their ability to interpret it. But you saw their hearts, and that they were vile hypocrites, full of pride, and seeking personal gain.

Now on earth those who purport to teach your words have developed into a new school of Pharisees. They are the ones everyone listens to, and they know the words of the scriptures very well. Just like in your time, they push people around with the letter of the law, and their hearts are so blackened that they cannot perceive the spirit of the law.

And these Pharisees have gone beyond the mischief that occupied the Phrases of your day. Our Pharisees have taken it upon themselves to influence and ultimately control our government. They have formed an alliance with the lovers of money, the very wealthy, and those who would make war for sport or for financial gain.

This group, who call themselves the GOP has taken control of our government and is laying waste to our cities and squandering the monies of our children. They have stopped taxing the very wealthy and made the poor pay more taxes, and they have spent far more money than which comes in from taxes. In their hardened hearts, which care not for your children, they do this on purpose so their will not be any money to be used to feed the hungry or care for the sick or shelter the homeless. And all the time they are doing this, they claim to be "God's Own Party".

Now a man has come who is not like them. He is your servant and has worshiped you in silence his entire life. Not loudly in the streets for others to hear, but in the quite sincere solitude of his heart. His faith in you has brought forth good deeds, as you told us real faith always does.

We ask that you watch over this man, and guide him, and protect him from those who would use fraud and deception to keep him from prevailing in the election and restoring justice and truth to our country. We ask that you smite those who would harm him, and that their evil deeds may become known to all men to see so that justice may be served.

And finally we ask that you move in the hearts of those who follow you. Many of them have been completely taken with the Pharisees and their teachings - so much that they cannot see the truth when it is right in front of them. We ask you to touch their hearts and lift the blindness from their eyes that they might see, and that they might forsake the Pharisees and follow only you.

There are many in our nation whose hearts are hardened and whose minds work day and night to do evil. They will be very angry when the GOP Pharisee is not elected and they may become violent and dangerous to the common people. We ask your protection from those overcome by fear and anger, and we ask you to touch their hearts if they will allow themselves to be healed. If they refuse your kindness from the hardness of their hearts, we ask that you protect us from them and their violence.

You have said in your Word that "without a vision, the people perish". We went for a long time without a vision, and the last four years have seen many of our people and much of our culture perish. Now a man has come to lead us with a vision of a better world. Please watch over him and keep him safe, and please grant us the chance to be led by this man, so that our society will be such that we will be able to live as you would have us live.

Amen

2. God if you exist
Please allow the disenfranchised, the poor, the disabled, the old, the young, the busy, the tired and the unsure a chance to vote. Let the voice of the least of us be heard. Don't allow the bullies of the strong to overwhelm us. I'm sure if you do this, the right person will be elected.

Amen.

3. Lord,
John Kerry quoted Abraham Lincoln who said "I do not pretend God is on my side. I instead humbly pray that I am on his side."

God, please let us be on your side. Please help us elect a President who will care about the poor, the downtrodden, the soldier in the field, those who struggle and yearn for a better America .... Let us be on your side Lord and, if it is your will, please help John Kerry be the next President of the United States.

Please do not give us the President we may deserve - please give us the President we need.

8. I believe in a higher power...
not sure what form it takes, exactly, so I'll just put these thoughts out there.

I want to win tomorrow night. Admittedly, part of it is selfishness on my part--but not totally. I want to win for the rest of the world--we need to show them that we do have a respect for what they think. We may lose some valuable alliances forever if Bush wins tomorrow.

I want to win for kids. Every child, every person, should be able to go to the hospital when they are ill and not have to worry how they are going to pay. Every kid should be able to go to school and college for a good education, and not worry about delving into debt.

I want to win for our military. They don't belong in Iraq, in such hostile areas. They shold be home with their families.

I want to win for every American, every person, who has gotten screwed under this administration, whether they know it or not.

If we lose tomorrow night, I'm willing ot go out on a limb and say that we may be irrepairably divided. I'm not talking a civil war, but I think we will be inserious danger of losing our civil liberties. I think we will forever be divided into red states and blue states.

There are some times when I believe that I am dissappointed for a reason, for some higher purpose. This is not one of those times. We are a country in crisis, and we are in dire need of healing. Healing will come in the form of a Kerry administration.

If there is a higher power out there, be it a being(s) or force(s), please let us get through this election with as little commotion as possible. Please let every vote count, please let people truly reflect on the policies they are voting for, and please give us a Kerry win in the coming hours.

10. God, please help us take back our country
from the dark, anti-democratic (small 'd') forces by allowing Sen. John Kerry to victory. I know you don't approve of some of his positions on the issues, but we can handle that while he governs our nation back to sanity and liberty.
In the meantime, Dear Lord, please save us from your archenemy on Earth, Mr. Bush, before he rushes Judgment Day.

11. Dearest Goddess, Mother of Creation,
help our nation and our world turn to a path of truth and fairness and justice in our dealings with our fellow humans. Let there be peace, let there be economic justice, let there be food and clean water and medicine for all. Lead us to ways to heal this lovely planet.

And if it be Your will, and for the good of all, help set our nation on a good and healing path through tomorrow's election. Help us preserve and improve democracy. Help us to learn to love one another, and to do no harm to one another.

And so mote it be.

38. Dearest Creator
You who are known by many names, be with John Kerry tomorrow. Shine your light over this nation. Bring peace, unity and and a love for all that is good. Dispell the hate and fear that has ruled this nation for the past four years. Let the people be heard tomorrow. Give voice to those who have been kept silent. Give strength to the powerless. Awaken a spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood in the people that poverty, injustice and war would end. Bring calming winds of change to transform this nation and her people.
So be it!

14. Make me to know mine end and the measure of my days
What it is that I may know how frail I am. Psalm 39:4

Lord, there isn't much that I can do, in my lifetime, to change the world but may my vote be one of those that leads to the change that needs to take place in this country and around the world. May my vote help to bring an end to war, poverty and destruction and a beginning to peace, hope and love for all mankind. Bless John Kerry and John Edwards and their families. Show them favor and grace. Help our country to unite and may we all accept the outcome, whatever it is, with dignity and grace.

21. I Rarely Pray In Public, But From The Depths Of My Soul
I pray to you, God Almighty, deliver your children from this new Caesar, this cruel man who has brought fruit to so much animosity and division in this fragile world. With so many dangers at our door, please remove this danger from our own walls.

In the name of all that is peaceful and charitable, I call humbly upon your providence to cast light upon our dark times and grant mercy, mercy to the people who suffer under this oppression.

May you hear this prayer.

22. Here is a suggestion
Lord,

Please open the minds of our countrymen, and of those who follow You. We pray that You may allow us to see the harm in the continuance of perpetual violence, fraud and hypocrisy as national policies. We also pray that You may help your followers see through the thin facade of the GOP morality. In closing, we pray that You may make us stronger as a nation and people and though we know You don't take sides in politics, please help John Kerry win the presidency. :)

May we carry the day tomorrow, and may John Kerry and John Edwards be lifted up in victory, so that your loving power and energy will once again flourish, and that men and women everywhere will strive for peace.

Let love prevail tomorrow.

Amen. O8)

I pray that you will inspire massive voter turnout on the left, so that the Kerry win is decisive and we can show the world that Americans don't take lightly what * has done to the planet and it's people.

not being a praying person...

If we are praying for Kerry and the freepers are praying for Bush, isn't this god everyone is praying to going to get confused? I mean, who does she pull for? The one with the most prayers or the one with the best prayers, or the one with that has the most eloquent prayers?

I'm in with the praying stuff if you think it will help, but I just want to make sure I'm doing it right. Basically, is content key or do I just need to say, "God let Kerry win!"

56. George S. Patton said it best:

"Almighty and most merciful Father, we humbly beseech Thee, of Thy great goodness, to restrain these immoderate rains with which we have had to contend. Grant us fair weather for Battle. Graciously hearken to us as soldiers who call Thee that, armed with Thy power, we may advance from victory to victory, and crush the oppression and wickedness of our enemies, and establish Thy justice among men and nations. Amen."

Mods:

These are such wonderful expressions of faith and hope. If it doesn't violate any rules, could you "Sticky" this.

And God Bless America and John Kerry.

66. Dear Lord, I pray
that you give Senator and Mrs. Kerry, Senator and Mrs. Edwards, their staff and all those who work for them and support them, strength and grace through the coming day. Give Your blessings to Senator Kerry, let him unite America in the hopes for a better tomorrow. Let him heal a nation fractured, and encourage a nation despondent. Let him be the instrument of the American people as they strive to make the United States a better place in the future.

Also, I pray, let everyone's voice be heard, let everyone's vote be counted, and let America once again stand as an example of democracy.

In the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ,
Amen.
