Just got back from three days of GOTV in Ft. Lauderdale. |

I was working with ACT, and lemme tell ya, they have a MASSIVE organization there in Broward County. The first day I went in there must have been between 500 and 1,000 people running all over the office and waiting in lines outside. Each team was getting between 400 and 800 knocks per day, with 20-40 teams every day.
I could feel the Kerry energy all over the city. There are signs all over, on public property. Virtually all of the people I talked to during the precinct walks were very well aware of the importance of this election, and I could see in their eyes that when they said they were going to vote, they meant it. And this morning I was talking to the taxi driver on the way to the airport, a black guy, about the election, and he told me that he's never seen this kind of energy about voting from minorities. This only confirmed a feeling I'd been having- that minorities are going to be the difference this time around.
We're gonna take Florida, and with that the presidency. And we're going to have minority turnout to thank for it. Kerry should keep that in mind.

4. Thanks for a great job and an uplifting report. |
|
We should all keep the minority vote, womens vote and the younger voters in mind and work with them to get legislation passed that would benefit them such as jobs, health care and a decent minimum wage. Democrats need to remember that there will be another election in 4 years and other local and state elections that we need to win.
Keep talking politics to people you meet everyday. Maybe we can motivate people into caring again about our country and who leads us.
Go Johnnnnny Kerry!!! :bounce: :bounce:

6. tremendous job! shades of people power in manilla |
|
this has the feeling of "people power" as it played out in manilla in 1986. wonder if anyone will point that out in the media tomorrow night? probably more parallels than meet the eye, though i can't speak to how many shoes laura bush has as compared to imelda marcos ;)
