Will we be able to laugh about * pResidency in retrospect?
all the death and corruption behind us, will we find the historical blip on the screen that brought us this clown ULTIMATELY something to laugh about?

And Shrub is even worse than Reagan, so I doubt I'll be laughing.

We'll be paying off his debts and fighting his wars for the next 20 years.

59. I too will never forget the "Mourning In America" caused by Reagan
The Reagan years were truly mourning in America. I can't look back and laugh at much. So many things that I see that are wrong in our country today were started by Reagan.

And I fear the Chimp has done more deep harm to our country than even Reagan did.

Kerry is going to inherit a short term catastrophic mess, combined with a long term train wreck with time bombs going off every few years for the next 50 years or so.

I feel for him, but I think he is strong and wise and that he will make us proud.

7. Not a chance
This gang of thieves, ideologues, Israeli spies and religious nutcases has done far too much damage to the country to be funny, ever.

Perhaps we can manage a few cold chuckles at their antics as they get dragged off to prison, but that is about all.

...that. We can even laugh at Clinton's sexual peccadilloes.

But Bush's presidency has directly resulted in tens of thousands of deaths. Yes, other president's have taken us to war. But seldom if ever has this war been so cleary "optional" and unnecessary.

There will never be anything funny about that.

Never.

15. Nothing Like A Good Holocaust Joke
Bush's inability to construct a sentence is kinda funny (not hilarious, but good for a giggle), but his Presidency resulted in a tremendous global instability at precisely the moment we most needed to find our common goals with the larger world.

Bush has set back the moderate face of Islam in the Middle East for many, many years.

North Korea went from negotiating for energy and food to becoming a nuclear threat. The ABM treaty was dissolved, new "usable" nuclear weapons were developed, and Kyoto was tossed in the garbage disposal.

We are suffering a deficit that will be felt for many generations to come in the loss of education, adequate housing, and other vital needs of our people.

George Bush is no laughing matter.

(Ps - Did I mention the vast toll of civilians that have died for less than no reason?)

19. No
Not ever. This country to my mind has taken a very dangerous turn in its ideology, political and otherwise. I don't know if Kerry or anyone who follows Bush will be able to get us back on the right track again.

Also, this war that Bush has started will NEVER end. Again, ideology. The legacy of the Bush years will live on long after we have all gone to our graves.

There is nothing the least bit humorous about George Bush or the past four years. I am literally praying that the American people restore my confidence tomorrow and end this nightmare at four years, instead of extending it to eight.

The damage done by dumb fuck not only to this country but to the world is going to take decades to repair.

The Bush years will be remembered as America's Nightmare Years and Bush needs to go down in history in the company of other tyrants like Caligula, Hitler, Mussolini, Pt Pol et al.

What them US has done to the innocent people of Iraq is unforgivable. For Americans who have lost family members who served in the military there can never again be any happiness. Laughter at the Bush years? I think not. :-(

67. Not a lot of yucks for this pResidency
I can't quite choke up a lot of mirth when I think of the trail of dead bodies that Bush will leave behind him - and all the shattered lives, the wasted potential - all the people who have suffered without proper medical care or medication; all the people who are mourning the death of loved ones in Iraq; all the people who have lost jobs, homes, security, money, self-confidence and hope.

I think often of the line "Macbeth hath murdered sleep" when I think of Bush and his administration. The list of things they have murdered - security, hope, trust, faith - and the names of the dead, should be more than enough to prevent us eventually looking back on the last four years with a chortle of amused nostalgia.
