Shaheen: Kerry has Dean in his sights |
|
With the Democratic presidential race in Iowa in a dead heat, former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen says Howard Dean shouldn’t assume the party nomination is his to lose. "It certainly appears that there is a strategy on the part of Dean’s campaign trying to make it appear that he was an inevitable nominee," said Shaheen, national campaign chair for Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry. "But, I think what we’ve seen in the past month or so is that that strategy has been broken down."
<snip>
On Thursday, Shaheen said many voters have walked away from Dean as they became more familiar with the candidate.
"Lots of people have examined his record and what he had to say ... they are really looking again at this race," she said. "And they are looking again at John Kerry."
<snip>
Shaheen acknowledged Thursday there have been unpleasant exchanges among some candidates, but said that shouldn’t prevent Democrats from coming together as a party later on. The most important goal for all is to beat George Bush. Once we get a Democratic nominee, people will come back together to support that person," Shaheen said.
Shaheen said Kerry has been trying to reach out to all the Iowa voters he can, flying by helicopter into towns he had bypassed previously. Voters are concerned about the economy and health care, and are ultimately trying to decide who they believe can "be the president and take on George Bush," http://198.181.156.134/nhprimary2004/pc/kerry/january/kerry_0116_local_a.htm

1. I like Jean, but she is distorting the truth and the reality.... |
|
Dean supporters would never abandon ship for Kerry, as much as I like Kerry.
In short, he aint got what Deans got.
Kerry may win Iowa, and that will be fine and I will support him,
however, after watching these polls continue to miraculously change instantly, along with a Zogby poller being quoted as saying he is "at a loss" at the giant swing, it bodes of 2002 all over again. As in, who do the ones controlling the electronic voting machines really want?
Of course we wont ever know now, because with electronic voting, we can never fully know.
I will even say if my candidate won, although I would be ecstatic, I still would wonder if the count was truly the correct count, and there is NO WAY to recall a recount. Thats what the ones controlling the BBV just LOVE about their handy dandy little machines.
That is how doubtful I feel about the truth of these primaries now, along with 2002, and along with the California Recall vote. There was significant electronic balloting in all of those elections.

2. That's an interesting take |
|
The Zogby polls are not electronic though, are they? They are in person in Iowa or by telephone as far as I understood.

3. It'll take alot of persuasion for me to vote |
|
for anyone who stood with bush* on the war with Iraq. And I don't believe the polls or that Kerry stands a chance. To many Democrats are against the war for Kerry to win anything but a ticket to the exit. The same with Gephardt and Edwards.
