Best choice IMO.
Plus we shouldn't make the mistake ever again of having a leader from a red state. It forces them to back down to the repubs FAR too much.

He has the experience on the Hill, he's well liked, and he has a great liberal voting record. No one would do a better job than Durbin. Obama isn't the only kick-ass liberal Illinois is sending to the Senate.

Reid's expected to win reelection handily this year, but he's had some close scrapes before.
I think Durbin would be a great choice. I think he comes off rather well on TV, and he's tough and partisan, without being obnoxious.

Daschle embodies much of what is wrong with the Democratic Party ...
i hope he wins ... we need his vote ... but we surely don't need more of his useless, wimpy leadership ...
it's time for him to step down ... and, fwiw, i strongly agree with the poster above who said that our new Senate leader should not come from a red state ... Daschle has been forced to make way too many compromises to keep his seat and he's pulled the whole party down with him ...

Durbin would be a great choice. Harkin would be another (I'm very proud of the fact that he comes from Iowa). I'm sure there are other great choices, as well. I don't like the idea of Byrd. I heard he's horrible on environmental issues.
