BEWARE THIS LANDSLIDE TALK!!!!, it could be dangerous

There is nothing I want more than a decisive victory for Kerry tomorrow - but all this talk about a landslide makes me nervous. If our voters think that it is in the bag some might just stay home....AND WE CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE EVEN ONE POTENTIAL VOTER STAY HOME BECAUSE THEY THINK THEIR VOTE ISN'T NEEDED.

I have this nastly feeling that we are playing in rovie's hands with all this landslide talk

1. We are going for motivation and momentum
We eant to get everyone engerized, but when we say landslide remember that it's not possible without the people going to the polls.

Think mandate, not landslide. Being positive is good. Being in la la land is bad. The only place another 20% can come from is from Bush supporters...and that ain't happnin.

28. From what I am seeing out on the streets while canvassing...and
the blogging done today...I ain't living in lalaland. Time for change and people realize it. I'll be optimistic...someone else can be pessimistic.

None of this polling includes 18-25 year olds. Landslide is quite do able. I'm believing. :hi:

but the more I think about the possibility of a Kerry win, the more energized I am to go out and do stuff.

8. America WANTS to vote!
That's why there are long lines and that's why there may well be a landslide across the nation.

This time out people really WANT to vote, either for God's Chosen President or for the Voice of Reality. There aren't a lot of faint hearted folks out there who might be turned away because they think their vote won't matter. They WANT their vote to matter. They WANT their voice to be heard, and that makes all the difference.

I expect to see the kind of turnout Eminem only hopes for in his video, the kind that gives the political professionals and pollsters flaming nightmares.

I expect America to step up to the plate tomorrow, and swing away.

And won't that be wonderful?

15. I see it as motivational to get people fired up to vote
Anyone who would decide to stay home based on someone posting "Kerry in a landslide" is really pretty stupid. It's like cheering "We're Number 1" at a football game. Gets people psyched!

10. October Surprise - we fucked ourselves
I agree, it's foolish. Ignore the polls, up or down, good news or bad; fight for every vote.

And I will add, THAT is how the Kerry campaign won Iowa.

19. I DO believe the mainstream Polls are just plain WRONG, but..
I think for most folks sick of *, who only hear this "deadheat" talk on TV, that it will scare the bejessus out of them, and really motivate them to go out and VOTE! So it only works for us that the "liberal" media crystal ball is so wrong on this...

Having said that, I really think its going to be a clear victory for sanity - for Kerry!! :7

16. Agreed.
Someone may or may not neglect voting if things look good, but they are very likely not to if things look iffy. The former situation has one disadvantage for us, and the latter does not. Go with the latter.

18. We NEED the Landslide Talk to Avert Electoral THEFT!
If all the buzz is a Kerry landslide, people will be much less willing
to accept another Bush* election theft.

We just have to remember not to get so carried-away that we forget to vote.
Fortuntely, a lot of our people seem to have voted already.

21. Believe me no one is staying at home
The early voting is a good indication of the level of determination of people to vote. Nothing is gonna stop them now. Finally, Americans will get off their asses and vote. To fricking bad it took four years of this shit to make it happen.

23. For Dems landslide talk is a greater motivator than too-close-to-call
Our people are in greater danger of staying home thinking they cannot possibly win than staying home because they're sure of victory.

Most importnaty, though, this is DU. Landslide talk is a tiny counter-balance to the vast media pro-Bush message.

Edited on Mon Nov-01-04 07:16 PM by richardk
It won't be a landslide if people stay home because their vote "isn't needed" if you say and do just that I can assure you it WONT be a landslide, because when someone does win in a landslide it's because their base came out in record numbers, and very few stayed home.

Remember, landslides are not won when people stay home, they are won when people VOTE.
