what will you be drinking?

I'm debating between Krug Clos de Mesnil and a bottle of 82 Cos d'Estournel I've kept back for just such a moment.

Kerry volunteers will be watching at a hotel in downtown Phoenix. A lot of us are getting rooms so we can stay up all night. It's going to be a long one.

11. I'll be drinking
12-year old Sherry Wood Finish Glenmorangie. Single malt whisky is the best. But that's because I'm not the type to explode with joy; I'll be savoring our victory in deep, flavorful sips.

And I'll also be drinking a bottle of Mountain Dew, flown from Oregon to London and handed to me by a couple of friends, and hauled back to Norway by me. We can't get MD here, and I haven't had any in 4 1/2 years. I figure, there won't be a better night/morning to drink it.

35. But really, it doesn't matter what you drink -
as long as the sentiment you drink for is there. For some, a well-brewed cup of tea or coffee is the way to celebrate. For some of us, it's dusting off old bottles of expensive alcohol, or buying new ones, that'll signify celebration. As long as we have something to celebrate, we'll be together in thought, if not in deed. :)

26. Beer
Thanks to Republican policies which keep people with disabilities in deep poverty, I can't afford anything much more extravangant than Miller High Life. Try buying champagne on $564 a month.

Actually, I now get only $504 a month, because they found out I had made an unsuccessful attempt to get back to work a while back, and for the next ten months, I will be paying 10% of my check back to Social Security in order to make up for the "overpayments" I got when I had income from work.

So much for the Republican BS about "rewarding work," eh? :eyes:

Tuesday evening, it's Miller Time, baby. And I'll raise a glass to the sky when we win. :)

45. Woodchuck Dark & Dry Hard Cider
Cider's a very American drink, far and away the dominant tipple before the 1860-1870s, when waves of German immigrants brought their beer-brewing skills along with them.

In addition, Woodchuck's made in Vermont, and I have to tip my cap to the Green Mountain State whence sprang Howard Dean, without whom I don't think this would have happened.

The only question is whether I will drink the whole six myself, or share with others. Whatever the outcome, all six bottles will be required.

I figure if I only need to drink four of them to get to 10:30, I'll be doing fine. At that point, I either go to bed with my wife happy and relaxed, or demolish the rest of the case and pass out on the floor in the den, depending on the results.

Drink anything French. We owe them a major apology. They were right.
