Jeb said just now on MSNBC that heavy turnout favors Repubs in Florida...
Called it a myth that heavy turnout will help Kerry, because more Republicans have registered in the last 4 years.

Damn! Always a fly in the ointment!

23. There are still more registered Dems in Florida
than there are Repugs.

New registered voters were about the same for both parties this year, leaving the Dems in the majority.

However, in early voting the Dems are turning out in much bigger numbers than the Repugs. Jeb is full of shit.

The problem is if he says it he might just make it true. Remember his promise to find more votes for his brother AFTER the polls closed in 2000.

I don't have the exact numbers but democrats and republicans were about evenly split in the last figures that I saw. I think the repubs may have had about a 200,000 advantage.
But...
hundreds of thousands registered as No party/Independants. Anybody care to guess which way they're breaking.

14. IF the argument has been ...
That GOP voters have always 'shown up' at the polls more than Democrats, then they already are voting ....

Since it is said that Democrats 'dont show' at the polls, it would be THEY who would increase the numbers of voters, since GOP voters already 'show up' ...

See ? .... um .... yeah ....

46. I call bullshit...
...on the Jebster.

Most of us who have followed politics for decades can recall the dozens of times we heard that Republicans do better during bad weather because it tends to keep frail people like the elderly at home instead of turning out to vote for Democrats.

The conventional wisdom has *always* held that heavy turnout favors Democrats. And I haven't heard any political observer maintain anything else in recent years.

But let's move beyond that to this voter registration. If Bush is such a popular security president, then why is registration about even between the major parties? And why haven't the new independents broken toward registering GOP? After all, Bush is their savior, right?

Jeb is telling whoppers. Probably to salvage his own political future in Florida.
