POPULAR VOTE MATTERS. Even if live in safe state, still vote Kerry.
Even if you live in a safe blue state (as I do), still get out and vote for Kerry. Don't think your vote doesn't mean anything.

As we saw in 2000, even though the electoral college determines the winner, the popular vote matters very much in the conscience of the American people:

1. Legitimacy - a president without the popular vote will never be seen as legitimate.
2. Mandate - a president who wins by a larger margin will face less opposition from congress and can govern more effectively.

The popular vote matters so much because it speaks to our most basic concept of democracy; deep down Americans will always feel that the candidate with the most votes is the real winner.

6. I'm not talking about any group in particular.
A lot of voters in very red or blue states tend to think their vote doesn't matter, and don't show up to vote.

7. Ha! Progressive know their vote matters. Only the DLC is worried
if progressives will vote for their Kerry.

Nice to see that the DLC knows we are not all firmly on board their DLC ship and they are a even a little worried about our commitment on the 2nd.

Yes Kerry on the 2nd, after that we will have to talk.

11. Calm down there. Not everything is a labyrinth of conspiracy.
I'm not talking about progressives or DLC'ers, per se.

I'm mainly referring to the average voter who thinks just because they live in a safe red or blue state that their vote won't matter.

13. Calm down you say. As If. Ha, the DLC wishes there was emotion here
but there isn't.

Kerry on the 2nd, Yes. DLC No.

That's it. That is the fact. No emotion, no fireworks. Just facts. No DLC.

8. Why bother posting this in every thread asking people to vote?
 Talk about a waste of bandwidth.

2. True
As far as we should be concerned, every state is RED. Complicitness has no place in this election. WE MUST VOTE!!!

3. What is this crap about legitimacy?
A few more votes for Kerry will NOT stop the Pukes from claiming that the election wasn't legitimate. Also, a few more votes for Kerry will not make Congressional Republicans change their combative attitude towards a President Kerry.

Besides, without proportional EV splits, it's all about winning the state. It's all about the Electoral College, and as we saw last time, the popular vote means squat.

10. IIRC, there have only been a handful of presidents to lose the pop vote
and none of them have been considered legitimate by the public as a whole.

Bush is a terrible president for many reasons, but especially because he governed as though he had a mandate. Florida was stolen, but even if Bush had won it fairly, he wouldn't have been considered legitimate anyway because Gore received 500,000 more popular votes.

We in TX are very proud to be voting Kerry -- EVERY vote we can get to tell * we are NOT with him is a victory in my book.

5. Damn Right!
I live in Alabama (red as hell) and I am 16.

But I have worked my ass off for John Kerry, even in Alabama and in Florida (twice on weekends) and I am going out tonight to spread Kerry/Edwards signs at south Alabama polling places.

I am telling you guys, we are kicking ass in Alabama. Watch, it will be closer than expected!

14. Totally agree--Take Nothing For Granted
I will be voting even though all major races in my state will be a blue lock. We need to show our strength--and we need to take nothing for granted.

18. Absolutely
I'm in a red sate and the Fucking Electoral College will throw my vote away, but I believe that "Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not some farcical (electoral) ceremony!"

(Help! Help I'm being repressed!)
