10. William Jennings Bryan ran and lost 3 times (won nomination).
It seems in the modern era, if you lose, you're done. It's such a big money, big business ordeal... very different from the old days.

No reason Bush Sr., Carter, Ford couldn't have run again, by law. But they are considered "spoiled goods" once they have run and lost, rejected by the electorate. And same for shrubbie.

16. The last sitting President to lose and then run again
was Grover Cleveland, IIRC. Of course, he won the popular vote all three times he ran.

11. Sure...
he can be like Larouche and run from prison.

Kind of hard to manage a campaign from the Hague, though..

14. Two terms max; 10 years max if you serve out half
of another President's unexpired term.

But if Bush is regarded as a dead weight by the GOP, I doubt he could get the nomination again. Of course, if we have another split decision (popular vote winner is electoral vote loser), he could seem appealing.

God, I don't want to think about this. Let's just get him out first. We can worry about him trying to get back in later.

17. Don't worry.
After Kerry takes office, Americans will realize that Bush duped them AND screwed up their country. They will never forgive him for that.

18. We have got to talk this up!
We must work OVERTIME after the election to plant the seed in the soil inside the heads of Republicans, that GEORGE W. BUSH MUST run for a second term in 2008, in order to restore the honor of him family and political party. I'm sure they'll fall for it. They did the first time he ran.

21. Well, he's never been elected
so I guess he can serve two legitimate terms if he actually gets elected and not appointed.

Just kidding!

He could do one more term, but as others have stated, he's spoiled meat at this point. I'm sure he'll have a distinguished post-presidential career like Jimmy Carter.

God, what a disgusting thought! Can you imagine the Dubya Center? What great causes would it get involved in??
