A thought for Election Eve: 1998
Remember 1998? Remember when the fascists impeached Clinton? Remember the outrage then (Move On was formed in response to the impeachment)? remember how the Congressional Elections that year had a surprising shift against the Republicans. How Newt Gingrich was crowing how they would pick up 30-40 seats, but instead they lost seats?

Well the anger expressed at the polls in Nov 98 over the coming Impeachment is nothing compared to the anger over the events of the last four years! Kerry will win tomorrow. Like many on DU I can't help but be apprehensive about what might be happening 24 hours from now, but my gut and my brain tells me that America is better than these fascist fools! The American People are better than the small minded fear and cynical manipulations of the Bushists. The American system of Government will correct itself in the end and won't let these dangerous madmen remain in power.

Americans of all backgrounds will come together tomorrow and TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK. All we need to do is go out and vote and let our voices be heard. IF everyone in America who thinks Bush is a bad president votes tomorrow we will win by a large margin.

1. excellent analogy
I was thinking about that today as well.

Gingrich basically lost his job over the '98 screw up. They all thought the "silent majority" would vote against Dems as a way to show Clinton they weren't happy.

In the end, the anger about the GOP impeachment drive gave the Dems nice gains in a year when the incumbent party usually loses.

This in 1998 on steroids.
