2. It's true.
My hubby, stock market afictionado, says that you're right. Also, the markets do much better under a Democratic president (I believe that I got that right).

6. Yes, this was on CNN this morning.
I can't remember the name of the show, but it's on from 6 to 10AM EST and has Jack Caferty and some guy who reports on the stock market. The stock market guy was the one who reported that "prediction" this morning.

It's just one more ironic prediction in the list.

Redskins losing.
Incumbant approval under 50%
And now the market losing 50%+

8. here's a different version of the same theory.....
BELIEVE IN MAGIC? The magic number on Nov. 2 is 270. That's how many Electoral College votes are needed to win the presidency. On Nov. 1, the magic number may be 10,290.28. That was the level of the Dow Jones industrial average two months before Election Day, and it may foretell the ballot's outcome.

On the 16 occasions since 1900 in which the Dow rose in the two months before a presidential election, the incumbent won 15 times, James Stack, editor of InvesTech Market Analyst, said in its Sept. 24 issue. In the 10 instances when the Dow fell, the challenger seized the White House nine times.

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/24/business/yourmoney/24market.html

the market closed today at 10,054 -- way below the MAGIC NUMBER

9. I saw that too. Someone on this board posted
Edited on Mon Nov-01-04 10:35 PM by novadem
that Rove said 10000+ equals victory for the Shrub, below 10K = victory for us.

I must admit I was rooting for the market to fall today. It closed just over 10,000.

11. I misspoke,
I should have said, Rove predicted...

But you're right, his prediction is wrong.

12. No President has ever been re-elected after failing to win the popular
vote. Now is not the time, stop Bush.
