2. Blowout: 31-7 Jets, starting 4th quarter |
|
I cashed on the first half wager. My Dolphins suck, especially on the road versus a quality QB.

4. They ran a halftime segment on the Redskin trend |
|
Al Michaels was low key and sad faced, never specifically mentioning the Sunday result predicted Kerry would win. You know damn well he would have gloated and been damn specific if Washington had won.
The halftime piece was narrated by Robin Roberts, the woman who used to be on ESPN. They showed clips of the Packer players talking about it, including one funny one: the field goal kicker is a Bush supporter, and one Packer teammate said he was worried the kicker would shank it intentionally if the Pack was down by 2 late.
They also ran clips of Stephanopoulos, George Allen Jr., one or two other politicians and Kerry, predictably embracing the trend or humorously trying to dismiss it. The one that surprised me was Dan Quayle, who said he and Bush Sr. joked about the system in '92, thinking beforehand the Redskin home game looked like a sure win, but didn't turn out that way.

on elections. I'll add the link to my going nowhere Lounge thread on edit. And in talking about the Jets stadium situation (I think) he said something like "It's politically charged, but everything's politically charged these days." No, Al, it isn't, it's just that shamelessly pimping for one candidate and one party on national tv is illegal. Edit: is here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=1922065&mesg_id=1922065

8. Was Michaels the one who got Dennis Miller to drink the Kool-Aid? |
|
When Miller was at MNF, he and Michaels used to bag on Paul Begala on the air. I can't remember the exact details...

10. It seems to me that Madden might sway our way... |
|
...but he's never said so overtly, but he seems to try his best to quickly change the subject whenever Michaels says some Jingoistic sort of thing.
Or maybe that's just Madden being blubbering Madden. Hope he's on our side, though.

12. Oh man, they're primed to hype Bush's big lead in Dixeville Notch |
|
A landslide game gives them the opportunity to show the voting live. They already cut to it twice, more than 15 minutes early.
Naturally, Michaels managed to slip in the 2000 vote from the Notch -- Bush 21, Gore 5, Nader 1.
Unfortunately, with more than 7 minutes remaining, this game will still be underway when Notchers vote. Michaels will no doubt trumpet the insurmountable lead.
