Our Reaction to a Kerry Win
The anger in us has been growing for four years. It is our innermost desire to get in the faces of those who have made us feel unpatriotic. I can understand the anger...I've been there ...I AM there.

But I beg you to rise above your anger and to take the higher road.

If you truly believe that the Right has been misguided...that they are operating in good faith...being true to their pinciples...you, as a a Democrat must respect the courage of their convictions.

Please do not, for the sake of our country, retaliate in ways that you would be ashamed of in the months to come.

I am a proud American. And regardless of my hatred for those who find themselves on the Right, I hope that I can set aside my anger for the sake of our democracy.

I hope that you can do the same.

-Paige

1. So, I can't call my brother in law and say,
"Your boy went down!"

I can't dance around my neighbor's Bush sign doing a victory dance.

Would it be inappropriate to attach a sign on top of my Kerry yard sign that says, "Hope has arrived, assholes!"

I've been really, really, looking forward to doing these things.

2. Well said, Paige.
That's my intent for the days and weeks that follow.

However, we must NOT forget what they've tried to do to this country and to the world. They must be prevented from coming anywhere near to this kind of power again, because these Republicans have proven beyond all shadow of a doubt that they are not worthy of power. They cannot be trusted to guard and defend our democracy. And we must remain vigilant.

In other words, forgive but never forget.

And never, ever make the mistake of becoming so complacent that we let them near the highest offices in this land. Or the lowest, for that matter.

3. After four long years of being told to "get over it"?
After 4 years of being demonized, vilified, ridiculed and pilloried?

After 4 years of having our patriotism questioned every time we objected to the boy king's pronouncements?

After 4 years of being called, baby-killers, satanists and terrorist sympathizers?

After 4 years of environmental protection roll-backs, sweetheart corporate bail-outs and the raping of the Treasury?

Be nice?

Not bloody likely....

The 'higher road' got us to where we are now...praying for a win, when it is bloody obvious to the rest of the planet what a buffoon Senator Kerry is running against. The 'higher road' got us the "patriot act", John Ashcroft and the Iraq war...The 'higher road' got us a bunch of jelly-spined sycophants masquerading as "Democrats" on the House and Senate floor...

Be nice?

Not bloody likely...

We'll be just as nice as they were...only nicer.... ;-)
