Will there be exit polling tomorrow? Exit polling is the most accurate indicator for how the vote is going. Remember, in 2000 the exit polls had Gore ahead and were correct in every state where they were taken including FLORIDA! The exit polls in FL indicated that Gore had won FL and he really did. But that was BEFORE the thousands of ballots of African-American and some elderly voters had been tossed out. But the exit polls were correct. The people coming out of the voting booths were telling exactly how they THOUGHT they voted and it was for Gore.
I am afraid that without the exit polls we won't be able to have that check on what is going on with the polling places. Exit polls were in fact a good first indicator of some possible hanky-panky.

1. There will be exit polls |
|
In fact, I'll bet we see the numbers leaked sometime in the afternoon.
I expect networks will be very cautious with exit poll numbers. Unless it shows a large margin one way or the other, they'll wait until real numbers come in.
But you are right about exit polls being fairly accurate. The networks will be able to accurately call Massachusetts or Texas with literally 0 % reporting.

2. Networks will be very reluctant to make a call... |

...if exit poll results are close. They're still smarting from 2000.

4. But they were right in 2000. More voters voted for Gore. |

the votes were just not counted. It was the Republicans who fought against exit polling. They don't want people to really hear from the actual voters who voted. They wouldn't be able to pull their stunts if they were allowed to tell who they voted for. Remember, Al Gore received more votes than Bush in FL in 2000. The votes that erroneously went to Pat Buchanan alone would have given the state to Gore. Even Pat admits that. In order to cheat and steal, the Republicans need to keep the public from having an accurate picture of how the voting is really going. The complaint about exit polling in 2000 was just a smoke screen to cover their voting misdeeds. The exit polls were right on!

3. Don't rely on even 100% accurate exit polls. |

We've been vote banking/early voting in huge numbers for days now. Not a one of those votes will or could be exit polled. Assuming our people were the majority of early voters, we have a nice cushion. But we simply won't have those millions of early votes noted in the exit polls.
They will be systemically skewed ... and not likely in our favor.
(On edit .... not a bad thing, mind you .... just a fact.)

6. Exit pollsters will try to weigh in early/absentee voters |
|
by conducting phone polls to sniff out those voters and who they voted for.
