10,000 in Milwaukee rally, according to those in the know
Asked around at the Milwaukee Kerry HQ about the attendance at today's rally. Estimates were between 8000 and 10000.

Bush's rally was about the same. But once again, they were warm and dry in a venue, and we were wet and cold and cheering anything that moved. The squeegee guy came out to clear the ramp, and we chanted "Squeegee! Squeegee!" A guy with a towel came out to dry the podium, and we chanted "Towel Guy! Towel Guy!" Between times, we chanted "Kerry! Kerry!" and "One more day! One more day!" and danced to the Beatles and Queen over the sound system.

Damn I was cold. A bus ride there and back in the rain. A three block walk from the stop. Two hours of waiting. Rain in my eyes and ears. Soaked to the skin. I couldn't feel my feet and my legs kept cramping up.

But I got to see the next president of these United States, and to touch him.

What Bush follower would do that just to see their guy, let alone touch him.

1. The Freepers Called This Rally "A Flop!"
Then I saw pix of all these people standing in the rain. You guys ROCK!! I must admit a little swing state envy sometimes...you got to see the next President of the United States!

2. Freepers are claiming that Kerry only had 1000 people...

...and Bush had 10,000. I knew one of you would give us the scoop.

FR thread.

According to themilwaukeechannel.com -
"There were about 10,000 to 11,000 people at each of the candidates' Milwaukee rallies."

4. Kerry said we must be a hardy bunch
He'd always been told we were, he said, but now he could see it. He thought we looked wonderful, all wet and bundled and ready to cheer him and the girls. He looked happy as hell, gesturing to someone in the crowd who had on a Sox hat too.

He said he'd always remember that rally in the rain.

Eh, freepers. People in the office buildings kept coming out for a moment break to see what was up, and then going back again. So the crowd sort of ebbed and flowed.
