GOP voter suppression phone scams in Las Vegas
Every Las Vegas television station tonight is reporting a three-pronged phone scam the Republicans have been using in the final days. The Clark County Elections Supervisor confirmed they have received dozens of calls from residents who were suspicious of the calls, so you can just imagine the number who either fell for the scams or didn't bother to report them.

When called, voters are told:

1) They can vote right now, over the phone

2) Their polling place has been changed

3) The person calling them will come to their home and pick up the vote

Harry Reid and congresswoman Shelley Berkley appeared at a joint press conference Monday, expressing outrage at the obvious attempt to keep newly registered Democrats from voting.

I have been sampling online newspapers across the country tonight. Without exaggeration, I could post a half dozen similar threads. Shameless gall and desperation. I'm going to despise Rove, Bush & Co. even more, if that's humanly possible, tomorrow night once they're officially pathetic lame ducks.

3. Pathetic lame ducks, that's what I wrote; 80 days and out
I didn't explain that well enough. I can already feel a surge of outrage from within me once Bush is declared the loser. Ecstacy and relief, yes. But at least equal amounts of fury at Bush and his accidental administration, despicable people who damaged this economy, nation and planet beyond short term repair. It will be almost a validation they were illegit in the first place, four years of hell.

2. With some luck
They will find a paper trail to a telemarketing company. (they did in NH). You would think that after Watergate, the republicans would have learned how to pay their "consultants" without it getting traced back to them.

9. This is the only link I can find

It's not ideal, because only the change of precinct aspect is mentioned. I watched all three network newscasts here at 11 PM. KLAS gave info regarding the vote-over-the-phone and we'll-pick-your-vote parts of the scam, but they have not updated their website yet, just one hour after the report.

6. There are more scams
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 02:51 AM by SoCalDemocrat
Another one reported is Republicans are contacting black voters and telling them if they already voted for Kerry in the Primary then they don't have to vote for him again in the General election, that the first vote will be counted. I think that was sent out in written directions to peoples homes.

This is election fraud, and some mother fuckers need to be prosecuted and get their lilly white asses sent to prison. I'm dead serious. I don't care which side is involved, they all need to go to prison.

10. Correct, I've seen reports of that one also
The online papers in battleground states are flush with reports like this. I'm amazed where I find them so often; hidden at the bottom of a generic election-related article.
