Could we win Louisiana?
It's been THUNDERSTORMING across Texas for the past 24 hours, and it looks like Louisiana will be next. And I'm talking NASTY storms.

Look at this map:

Note how all non-New Orleans areas will be soaked today!

Could it be? I know I've seen a poll or two showing Bush's lead here in the single-digits..

1. Forecasts here...
...say New Orleans is getting soaked too. 50% chance of rain. In statewide elections, it's New Orleans v. The Rest of Louisiana for the Democrat to win, so...I don't know. It'll be a shock to me if Louisiana goes anywhere NEAR Kerry, honestly.

I do feel confident about the long-held tradition that if a student here at Loyola New Orleans attempts to kill himself in class the day before the election, the challenger wins. Been true since 2004. Or...it will. :)

Later.

4. Well, I'll tell you one thing I just noticed that made me smile .....
The snow in West Texas and southeastern New Mexico!

These are THE MOST BEDROCK REPUBLICAN AREAS OF BOTH STATES.

If the southeastern New Mexico vote is low because of the snow, this could be a BIG BIG victory for Kerry in New Mexico.

What are the current numbers in Louisiana? I thought Kerry would have a chance there because it's a Democratic state, with two Dem senators and a Dem governor.

5. Democrats are typically not Democrats here.
Blanco the governor is conservative as Hell. Landrieu ran as I Heart GWB until she almost lost her seat in 2002. Since then, she's gotten better. But yeah, no chance Louisiana goes Kerry.

Later.
