Dean backers happy to be 'left-wing freak show'

By Judy Ettenhofer
January 17, 2004
Edit ...

Using Dean's promise to repeal President Bush's tax cuts, the TV ad begins with an off-screen announcer asking an older couple what they think of Dean's "plans to raise taxes on families." Together, the couple respond that "Howard Dean should take his tax hiking, government-expanding, latte-drinking, sushi-eating, Volvo-driving, New York Times-reading, body piercing, Hollywood-loving, left-wing freak show back to Vermont, where it belongs."
Edit ...
As could be expected, Dean's campaign embraced the negative ad as a fund-raising opportunity. The day the ad hit the airwaves, Dean campaign manager Joe Trippi e-mailed supporters asking for donations. Quickly, $200,000 came in. By the end of the week, the Dean campaign had raised a fresh $1 million.
Club for Growth executive director David Keating shrugged off the infusion of cash for the candidate his group loves to hate.
"We're really aiming at the general election with the ad," Keating told the Associated Press. "If that helps Dean in the short run that's fine with us because we think Dean is the weakest candidate."
The former governor's "left-wing freak show" begs to differ.

1. about the ad..
I saw it for the first time yesterday what i dont get is why people would be proud to be the latte drinking volvo driving yuppie freakshow the ad seemed more anti yuppie than anti dean. Howard Dean is yuppie dont vote for him is the message i got which is a pretty weak argument surelythese wingnuts can come up withsomething better than that

5. "body piercing, Hollywood-loving, left-wing freak show"
They were going after more then yuppies.

Club for growth was trying to connect like minded freepers in an effort to mobilize an constituency that is dying out.

6. And I recently heard a piece that said Dean...
Drinks generic ginger ale, uses tape to mend old shoes, and lots of other things that fly in the face of the yuppie lifestyle.

9. I didnt say dean was a yuppie just simply that the ad

4. Correct English Please
"The in-bred, flag-sucking, OxyContin-popping, Faux-News-watching, Apocalytic-yearning, Hummer-driving, election-stealing, jobs-exporting, Halliburton-loving, terrorist oil-guzzeling, insider-trading, Iraq-lying, Goose-stepping, Right-wingnut missing-links can kiss my asses! "

I don't see anything Right about those wingnuts and the use of that word plays into their hands.

Wrong Wing is more like it.
