Still had to wait about 40 minutes to vote, but well worth the wait to punch that card for Kerry/Edwards! It sure felt good! And no problems were we voted. Everyone very respectful and seemingly in good spirits!

Hope everyone has a great voting experience today!

5. Two important phone numbers for trouble at the polls.
1-866-OURVOTE for serious problems.
1-866-MYVOTE1 for lesser problems.

Long line this morning. :) I just hung signs in both towers of my building directing people to the proper Election District table so they won't have to wait on the line that is way out on the street. Good turnout.

13. Just voted in Ohio for President Kerry! It's a great feeling!!
No line for my precint but lines for other precints. My small city has all of the precints in the same building. They've done that for the past few years. No problems with any challengers. I don't think our small, mostly rural county has anyone challenging.

28. Got there at 6:30 -- already a huge line
Voted in Montgomery County, Ohio, (Dayton) which has been called (by some) the most important county in the most important state. I have never seen the polls this crowded.

Right now the weather is bad here (west central Ohio) but I think they are calling for it to let up a little around midday. Regardless -- I don't think weather is going to be much of factor today. People WILL turn out.

GO KERRY!

34. I think I'm the only one in DU voting late
I live in a blue state with no early voting and in a very quiet voting precinct that's using the same lever operated machines they've used for years and years. My husband's working today and we've been voting together after work for over a quarter of a century, so that's what we're doing today. There is occassional confusion. Sometimes the polling workers insist that we have to vote at a different location, but that's because they're about 100 years old and dizzy from the unaccustomed amount of sugar they've consumed to keep going through the very long day. They're always wrong and we always go back and forth until we get to vote.

52. Make sure the lines are what you expect as 'usual', though
This is a unique election. Don't be too surprised by huge lines. Maybe you should check them out early and, if they are unusually long, you could hop in line. By the time your husband arrives, you may be closer to the front of the line. It might save the two of you quite a bit of time. Just a thought. :hi:

FL here.... I voted right at 7am, as I was #16 in line. Shortly after I got there, the parking lot filled & the line wrapped all the way around the building. 2 traffic jams on the way in to work (work only 10 mins away from home/polling place) as people were stuck waiting in line on the roads just to get a parking place at their polling place!!!

54. Long lines in Chicago
We got there right at six and we were okay, but right behind us tons of people appeared. I don't have a basis for comparison because I usually vote after work, but it seemed like great turnout. I think I will walk over there around 6pm and just get a gander at the line. That will give me a better idea of how many more voters we're seeing.

OMG it felt good to punch that card for John Kerry (and Barack Obama).

55. Voted at 7:00 am CST here in good ole Oak Lawn, IL
I was #38 according to the machine when I put the ballot through. I also wrote in Krista Grimm for the 3rd IL Cong. District. Don't worry she's a Dem running against the son of the retiring Congressman Bungalow Bill Lipinski. Bungalow Bill pulled a real fast one on all us Dems in the IL 3rd. He ran unopposed in the primary in March and then decided after the primary he was going to retire and made sure that his son Dan got the spot.

I don't expect her to win, it was a protest vote nothing more and there's no way Dan Lipinski is going to lose to his so-called Repuke challenger.

Some things NEVER change in Chicago Democratic politics.

I just got to work after voting in Georgia. My wife and I got there at 6:30(30 minutes early), and the lines were around the block. There were hundreds of people when we got there and hundreds when we left. This is a suburb of Atlanta(probably Bush country). I did see a lot of black people. I took it as a good sign.

73. Virginians! Get out there now!
Arlington County is delivering a huge pool of Democratic votes.

Wherever you are in the state, no matter how obnoxiously Republican it is, your vote cancels out one 700 Club watching dittohead who thinks that Saddam Hussein attacked Virginia soil.

Cancel out enough "Morans," and the state of Virginia cancels out the entire states of Mississippi and Utah.

This could be the most important day of your life. Don't let it pass you by.

...who was a Bushista in 00, but this year voted LIBERTARIAN. Fine with me...he was not going to vote for KE04, so he waited in line for an hour and a half to waste his vote. My other friends in NorVA have all already voted for KE04--they said lines were long, polling places crowded, but no hassles. If our team can take VA, change is gonna come all across this land...I'm feeling GOOD!

Both my parents got suckered too. I have a feeling it's going to pass. I hope I'm wrong, but I get the feeling that Prop 2 will pass also.

I definitely can understand why some people might want to vote for Proposal 1, and my reasons for opposing it are complicated.

But when in doubt, I take a good, long, hard look at who has lined up on either side of it. And when Dick Posthumous is urging a "Yes" vote and Jennifer Granholm is urging a "No" vote, that tells me a lot.

143. I live out in Litchfield county in Barkhamsted, CT
My wife was taking her sweet time this am getting ready saying that there would probably be only three or four people in line in front of us because Barkhamsted only has a population of under 4,000

I told her that I thought that she was going to be surprised at how many people were going to be in front of us

When we got there there was a sea of cars that filled the school parking lot and the majority of them had Kerry stickers on them

On our way into the school some Bushies were outside the roped off perimeter with their signs spouting off their propeganda and asked me if I was going to make the "right choice"

I smiled and said "yes"

Then I looked at him straight in the eyes and told him that my right choice is for John Kerry..he muttered something that sound like a- hole and went on trying to get other people to change their votes

Needless to say that my wife was shocked when we had to wait almost an hour to make it from the back of the line to the voting booths

135. HUGE turnout in PA-10/13
Another beautiful, warm day in the heavily Democratic East Coast.

I was voter number 480-and-change. This was at 11AM, after a 40-minute-long wait in line.

In 2000, I voted at the same place, at about the same time, and was voter 20-something.

Big. Huge. ENORMOUS turn out. And suprisingly enough, a lot of Democrats.

The Republicans had a lot of American flag paraphernalia. Several pieces were lying on the ground, so she walked over, picked them up, and put them on a tacky-looking American flag chair.

So I said in earshot of the local GOP committeeman who was giving out literature, "It's only a problem when Democrats do it. Republicans are allowed to use the flag any way they want to." The guy just looked forlorn.

141. Voted on Wall Street
OMG...I just waited for 2 hours to vote on Wall Street! They only had two machines  which  made it go really slow, but the people here had dedication to wait even though we are the furthest thing from a swing state. We had news crews and photographers in the place!

to fight our way through BC electioneers. Stopped by the KE tent and had a good discussion. This is serious BC country.

144. Just proudly voted for Kerry with my parents
Voted straight Democratic of course. My mom voted, and the sound that comes on after you press the "cast vote" button didn't come on, yet the light went off. Is the noise not coming on a problem?

by absentee ballot.

And it was a REAL pleasure, too.

BTW, I live across the street from the polling place (West L.A.), and I have NEVER seen lines at 7:15 and 7:30 in the morning. EVER. And I've lived here a LONG time. Never happened. You can't find parking for about a block. Big traffic jam out in front, it's kind of a choke point (AND, on top of that, it's TRASH DAY! - I don't mean take out the bush trash, I mean the regular garbage collection with the trucks and everything). Nuts! Everybody I saw going from here to the physical therapist's office and doctor and back, everybody has an "I voted" sticker on their lapel, and everybody's talking about long lines like they've never experienced before.

BIG day. I'm a nervous wreck. Just savaged one cuticle. One down, nine more to go.

Good luck to us all, guys!

171. I voted at about 11 AM this morning
Waited in line for about 45 minutes in a precinct on the outskirts of Huntsville, Alabama. My wife and I, plus her grandmother, who we practically had to drag along. All Democrats, straight down the ticket. We weren't the only ones by any means.

181. I voted here in Montgomery County, just outside of Philly
. . . at 9:00 this morning. Not much of a line, but I heard they were pretty long when polls opened at 7:00. I cried.

My husband just got home, we're going together as he places his vote for John Kerry.

BTW, my son's middle school had their own elections. Guess who won!

I'm trying not to get too excited, but I'm sensing this is ours.
