Hubby just voted; small Texas town
We're just off the Ft Hood base; 42 vehicles in the poll parking lot and ONLY ONE with a "w" sticker! :)

1. I just voted as well here in Louisiana, and
unfortunately, I just walked right in and voted immediately. No lines, but a steady stream of cars pulling in....I didn't expect differently here though. Sure wish I could have reported throngs and throngs of voters, but Louisiana is so full of mouth-breathers. (But, we did elect a Dem governor recently, yay!)

5. Update from New Iberia
Hi AnnInLa! Same thing here. I went by 5 precincts, not a line at any of them, and very few cars. Think about this....could it be that many Repugs don't care for bush*, but can't bring themselves to vote for Kerry so they are just staying home? A lot of people here vote early in the morning before work, so it's really unusual for there not to be lines before 8:00.

6. Hi Finecraft.....I am going to drive by a few voting places too,
this afternoon. In anticipation of long lines, and hot, humid weather, I bought a few cases of bottled water, and some small packages of chips to pass out. Also bought some rain ponchos....but, looks like none of these items will be needed, damn. (Well, am glad there's no rain yet.) Am hoping more people come out this afternoon and after work. Our students don't have school, but we teachers have an inservice day today, so I called in "sick"....would have been to antsy sitting in an inservice all day. Let's check in with each other on the LA forum thruout the day, OK? Are you guys having a victory party tonight over there?

8. I'm phone banking tonight until 6:00
I'm sure we'll have a party at the K/E headquarters on Main Street.
My friend Jeff is having an election night show on KANE tonight, so I'll probably head over there later. We're both praying for a Kerry win! I'll check in during the day. Good Luck over in Abbeville!

3. Would love to see a "blue" Texas again.
Read that Texans have moved slightly away from Bush since 2000 according to a Scripps-Howard poll.

I have some family and friends in Texas who have felt intimidated. They feared being vocal for Kerry on their jobs, and most didn't put up Kerry/Edwards signs on their lawns or on their vehicles for fear of reprisals like vandalism, even job loss! So how can polling be accurate within such a scared populace. These shades of a police state must go!

So maybe in the privacy of their voting booths, Texans may reveal their true feelings, today, and Kerry takes Bush's ADOPTED state.
