At our teeny-tiny polling place, we have NEVER, EVER had to wait - it's a walk-right-in-and-vote thing.
Mr. eileen went at 7 and called to tell me there were 25 or so in line and it took him a half hour.
I got there at 7:45 and found the same thing.
Everyone was verrrrry quiet, though it quietly emerged as I was chatting with an acquaintance, that most, if not all, were K/E. There was a Repub challenger there, but he was outside on the phone. They are probably really going after the Kent State students who are first-timers or who have registered in Ohio, despite being from out of state - which is perfectly legal for them to do (only have to be a resident here for 30 days before the election.) The Dem "challenger" said nothing had been challenged yet and the line kept moving.
Little old lady poll workers (I'm allowed to say that, since I'm almost one myself) were chipper and cheerful and very happy to see all the voters.
BTW, is there a law somewhere that says only little old ladies can work at the polls?
