Washington DC turnout - photo
Washington DC is one of the most heavily Democratic areas of the country. I think recent polls showed it going for Kerry 87%-12%.

Because of that, you wouldn't normally expect heavy turnout, because a lot of people here think their vote isn't that important.

Not this year. My girlfriend took this picture at 7:20am in Adams Morgan. She says there were about 80 people in front of her.

If this is indicative of Democratic turnout across the country, we're in good shape.

3. lines
Voting in New York City this morning, I stood in the longest poll line I've ever seen.

Most years, I could walk in and out with no problem. At 6:30 this morning, it took me 45 minutes to vote.

Massive turnout is good for us. Hope it's this way around the country!

8. massive turnout in Boston too
at my small precinct; there was already a line of ~45 people (i counted) 15 mins before the doors opened at 7:00, and MA is obviously a very safe state. it's good to see that people still know it's important that their vote be counted even if they are not in a swing state. JAIL TO THE THIEF!

9. Turnout high in NYC too! and there's not much on the ballot!
After Kerry/Edwards we're just voting for Schumer and some judges.
I also had to vote for Congressman Rangel in my district but there are no questions or anything.
At 7 AM for my "election district" there were 10 people ahead of me.
There are 9 or 10 districts for my precinct with 2 machines each.
Almost every set of machines had 10 or 12 people waiting.

Thank you for sharing this picture.

Even though DC is solid Kerry, this kind of huge participation will pump up the final national numbers, which is what we need to prove the silent majority IS the majority in this country.
