Lines out the door in Oklahoma
I passed by four polling places on my way to work, and all of them had either totally full parking lots or lines out the door. A co-worker of mine just said he had a 30-minute wait.

It may not sound like much, and it doesn't compare to the pictures and stories I've heard of elsewhere, but trust me, this is remarkable for Oklahoma. Especially early in the morning.

I've voted in every election here since 1996, and the longest I've ever had to wait in line was a line of FIVE people. I think turnout will be big in Oklahoma. I know Kerry won't carry OK, but hopefully it will put Carson over the top.

5. I agree!
Definitely f'ed. The same poll, though, had bush up by 30 points in Oklahoma, and I definitely believe it will be closer than that. Especially with turnout like we seem to be having.

4. Last one I saw had Carson down 8
but it was a Survey USA poll, and I don't trust it.

Still, it will be an uphill battle for Carson. He seemed to run out of money relative to Coburn in the last ten days or so. Coburn's ads were flooding the airwaves, with pretty much at least one running in every single commercial break before midnight that I've seen on any network for the last week. It's been horrible.

I'm still optimistic, though. Turnout will be the key. Keep your fingers crossed for us okies. We've already got arguably the worst senator in the country with jim inhofe. coburn would give him an immediate run for his money :scared::cry:

6. That poll is totally skewed right.
If Coburn wins, it will be because of the barrage of constant right wing conservative radio here (all three major stations) who have attacked him non-stop for the last month. They love their "Doc" Coburn, even if he is a crazy, homophobic, racist, evangelical fuck (he put the mental in fundamental).

Here in my small town of Blanchard OK, we came back home after seeing the lines at the small Baptist church on main street. We only recently moved here and have voted twice previously. We tried to vote at 7:35 this morning but there were already at least 100 people lined up out the door, down the sidewalk and around the corner. Parkin lot was full, so was the street surrounding the church and people were parking on the grass in an emptly lot adjacent.

I thought my wife, who is 8 months pregnant, should not stand out in the cold whipping winds for an hour so we went and got a donut and came back home to get some coffee. We are going back soon.

Come on Oklahoma, don't let me down. We have more Democratics by 1/3 than republicans. Be proud. Vote Democratic.

10. That's huge for Blanchard!
Very conservative town traditionally, but I've heard that newcomers (folks like yourself! :)) might be changing that.

Better luck voting the 2nd time around. Lines that long can't last forever in Blanchard, certainly :D:D:D

I hate the AM radio here. Once upon a time there was one sorta liberal voice (Ben Odom) who had a show, but I'm not sure it's on anymore, it's been so long since I've bothered listening to any of the talk radio here. But Coburn is definitely scary :scared:

8. Yesterday there were lines down the sidewalk
and cops directing traffic at the election board during early voting. And high minority turnout.

In my little neighborhood there is about an even split between * and Kerry signs. Still expect * to take the state though. But I'd be absolutely delighted to bewrong abou that - after all, those voters yesterday seemed more than just a bit hacked off.

THE race here is definitely between Coburn and Carson. Everybody I know is just sick of it. Polls show Carson down but I think it will be close. He has made a real grassroots effort with canvassing and calls.

9. I agree it will be close
it's all about turnout now, and that's looking good. The polls that had him down were BS. I don't doubt he might be down a little, but definitely not 8 points.
