There's something about going to the polls in person ON election day....
and casting your ballot with your fellow citizens. I love the public "out in the open" nature of it. I love to see the polling place and the people and try to gauge the mood. And this year, I wasn't going to deny myself the experience. I wanted it to be "hands-on", so I could wallow in the joy of casting my vote for Kerry!!!

For the past few weeks, I've envied the early voters and the absentee voters a little....but I wouldn't miss this for the world!!

2. It was a good feeling
When I got there, there were maybe 10 people. When I left, the line had grown to the hundreds. I had one of those ancient voting machines with the big lever to pull.

I admit I imagined it was a guillotine.

4. yeah, nothing beats it!!
Absentee is ok if you have to, but there's nothing like walking into the booth to give you that sense of empowerment!!

8. It's the best.
Being 20, it's the first presidential race I've voted in. Even though the place was crawling with freepers (western VA), it felt good to imagine myself as the source of their hatred. Hell, I was even dressed in all blue.

in California!:) It was at a firehouse! Good omen? Lots of really whitebread, conservative looking types in my suburb waiting to vote. Took about 40 minutes to get throught the line! The apprearance of the crowd bothered me at first, but I look pretty "whitebread" myself, so who knows? Seemed like a serious mood. Not a lot of chit chat.

10. I usually vote by absentee ballot, but
once every four years, for the Presidential Election, I go and vote at the polling place.
