In all the years I have been voting, I have never seen the turnout that |
|
I am seeing today. Amazing and exciting! I have the elections day jitters and I've NEVER had those either--what a strange feeling! My child was sick with high fever all night and is home from school, so I'm not able to work at headquarters like I had planned:( and it's all I can do not to eat everything in sight including my fingernails! I had hoped to use this nervous energy phone banking today working all day to GOTV, so here I am. Thank-god for DU! Anybody else have the election jitters?
Go KERRY/EDWARDS! :kick: :bounce:

hopefully around 12 or 1, I'm out the door. He can watch our child then, but until then it's tough.

Think I will go to the store shortly to supply 24 hour stash of munchies - and maybe some drink mixers as well.
Change smells great.

9. this is the first election my spouse has voted in |

and he stood in line 2 hours Saturday to vote for Kerry! I'm very proud of him! He's not politically active, but with me being on fire this year, it has lit a spark under his butt:D
I have voted in every election--senate included--since I was 18. I just don't understand people who allow others to make the decision for them, especially when it comes down to such important issues as today.

6. Long lines here in Illinois as well |
|
I've never seen it like this, even here, where people vote early and vote often. I've also never felt this tense before in an election. Blood pressure will probably be up all day.

|
28% in latest polls. He's motivating his people to get out but most people in this state see him for what he is, a carpetbagger and a religious lunatic. Yesterday he said that "anyone who votes for Obama is comitting a mortal sin." Not sure who died and made him God, but this idiot needs to pack his bags and get out of Illinois. Problem is, he said he's staying even if he is defeated. He's gonna be our thorn now. Hip, HIp, Hurray.

23. I've never seen more than a dozen people before. |
|
And we typically have a 90+% turnout in my precinct. There are either a LOT of new registrations, that 10% makes a heck of a difference, or people are fired up and going early instead of late. I walked away this morning when I saw the line was too long for me to get to training on time. I'll have to vote this afternoon instead.
Fortunately it appears my class will be done way early.

19. Report from a friend in NH |

Report from a friend in NH:
I went to vote this morning at 7:30. I thought the polls opened at 7:00, but they didn't. So, I stood outside and froze for a half hour with about 50 other people. By the time they opened the doors at 8:00, the line of people was completely around the elementary school and people were parked out on the highway.
When I got out of the booth, there must have been 30-40 people lined up to register to vote! I couldn't believe it. About half of them were over the age of 50 and had never voted before.
That's one nice thing about NH... if you have a photo ID, you can register to vote on election day.

24. California has lines too!!!! |
|
I just voted at a church recreation hall. For the first time in the 7 years that it has been my voting place there was a line. 10 voting booths and people lined up outside the door. One lady called from the booth on her cell phone and told the boss she was going to be late because she was voting! There were lots of young people working the polls and lots of minorities standing in line. I called my brother 5 a.m. for a wake up call, he runs a voting precinct out of his garage. He calls me back 5 minutes later to tell me there are people standing in his yard. Voting zombies had invaded!!
I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK!!!
