Even if Bush wins (he won't, though!) there is an unstoppable movement now |
|
the Bush presidency has unwwittingly sparked a powder keg of activism. The last four years have seen an unprecedented level of above-ground direct action, protest, and outcry.....this is a movement.
Even if Bush wins again, there is simply a huge factor that the GOP MUST take into account: the larger half of the country! WE are the new previously-silent majority. Bush's possible next term policies will be the impotent flailings of a lame duck; we have enough evidence for impeachment, Cheney's health will only get worse, the alienation and resentment on the left will only harden into more activism, accrue more recruits, and more grassroots action. Bush will find it almost impossible to govern as a RW ideologue due to pressure from the majority opinion; his devoted base will drop him because of this inability to lead effectively, and Iraq will be the albatross around his neck, dragging him deeper and deeper into his own personal "malaise." It doesn't matter if the GOP owns the place now; they know the jig is up and concessions MUST be made.
Either way you slice it, Bush is toast. So everybody cheer up.
(Plus, Kerry's gonna win anyway!)

3. Tonight and tomorrow, I will either be |
|
celebrating a victory, or planning long-term for the resistance. I doubt Bush will win, but if he does, I will not be leaving the country,I will stay and fight. And if Kerry wins, I will continue to be active. We did not get into this mess overnight and it will take more than one election to clean up it up.

4. The only thing that worries me |
|
is that IF the shrub wins, all these young voters and minorities that ordinarily wouldn't vote are going to feel as if there original thoughts that their vote doesn't matter will be confirmed and they may never vote again. So a Kerry win is more important than any of us even realize.

6. Yes. yes,yes,yes, yes, yes. I've been saying/thinking the same thing. |

This THING cannot be reversed. And if the vote is fixed and they do steal it, I pity any adminstration that has to deal with the movement they have inadverdently spawned.

7. I've allowed myself the fantasy at times in the last few months.... |
|
that the * administration doesn't WANT to win again....I think they can hear the chants and see the torches in the distance....But that vision fades quickly.
