nevermind...was a test on Ohio servers

http://www.megapundit.com/archives/2004/11/02/bbreakingb-president-with-slim-lead-in-ohio/

Ohio’s Secretary of State is posting results of what I imagine are early votes and absentee ballots and so far President Bush is leading by the slimmest of margins:

Bush: 49.87% with 800,950 votes.
Kerry: 49.12% with 788,799 votes

UPDATE: We all know turnout is likely to be higher this year vs. 2000. However, based upon the 2000 voter turnout of 4,705,457, the 1,606,016 that have been counted in Ohio so far represents 34% of the 2000 turnout.

UPDATE II: It appears the Ohio SOS web site is having difficulty from all of the traffic (Not from here, of course) but I know Command Post now has the story and I’m sure it is spreading like wildfire. So you may receive an error page when you try to view the Ohio SOS Web site.

UPDATE III: The Secretary of State’s Web site continues it’s unreliability, but keep trying. It does come up every once in a while.

1. Does that sound about right?
GOP advantage in absentee balloting is neutralized by Dem advantage in early voting, right?

8. In most states, I think you're right....
... results for absentees/early voting aren't supposed to be posted until the polls close. What the law is in Ohio regarding this, I simply do not know.

11. Many absentee ballots were cast by the military. Looks like the troops are
sick of AWoL trying to "lead" them. Normally, the repukes get a much larger percentage of the military (absentee) vote.

15. Reply from Ohio SOS webmaster...
From: WEBMASTER

Subject: RE: http://serweb.sos.state.oh.us...

Over the past few months, the Secretary of State's office has been diligently testing our election night web reporting system.

The site you accessed, serweb.sos.state.oh.us, is a test site, containing sample results. These fabricated numbers were needed in the system to test our servers and software. As part of the test plan, these results were scheduled to be removed from the database prior to actual reporting, which begins later today.

Actual results will be available tonight at 7:30, on the live election night site, located at election.sos.state.oh.us.
