I was a young voter once. In 1976. |
|
I was 18. I showed up at the polls at 7:00 AM. Voted for Carter. I stayed up until 3:00 AM till Carter won. One of the happiest days of my young life. I have never missed an election since.
I hope all the young and new voters enjoy this day.

1. My first election too. |

I was an idealist. I voted some left-wing third party. Now I am a cynic. I vote straight democratic, and proud of it.

My very first vote was for then-Governor Jimmy Carter.

For many decades, I don't think the repugs can ever earn trust from me again, they have stained themselves forever in my mind.

Voted in the Ohio primaries in '82, for one Gerald Springer. He lost, but I voted for the guy who won the primaries (Dick Celeste). He was the last Democrat to serve as governor in Ohio, and they pummeled him mercilessly the whole time he was in office. There hasn't been a Democratic governor in this state since, and it's a royal freakin' mess.
Voted in '84, too, but I didn't get to vote for a winner in the White House until '92. That was a good year, I admit.
