Huge lines at my polling place in Madison, Wisconsin |
|
I live in a very progressive district and it always produces huge votes for Democrats. Today I got in line at my polling place at 6:40 am (polls open at 7am) at Georgia O'Keefe Middle School. There were already 50 or so people ahead of me, one person spent the night so they could be first!!
By the time the polls opened at 7am--there were well over 200 people at that polling place waiting in line--I have never seen anything like it.
It was phenomonal and the best part is I know most of us voted for Kerry.

Longest line I've seen in 6 years of voting there. I was in line for about 35 minutes. I like to think most of them were like minded, but I did see a B/C button here and there. Also saw a guy with his Kerry t-shirt over his suit. :-)
My first happy memory is voting for Kerry, Russ Feingold, and Tammy Baldwin. My second happiest memory is the election supervisor making a lady remove her B/C sign from the premises. hehe It was like a mini victory.
