Unfortunately, I see this as a distinct possibility. So many people are so pissed off right now. Frankly, I'm somewhat surprised it didn't happen in 2000, but the situtation is different this time - there is much more awareness and anger out there.

Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

10. Yes it will be.....
I'm strongly against rioting, because we are only hurting ourselves by destroying local businesses.
But you damn sure better beleive i'll be involved in one of the biggest protest in the history of this country if this vile administration steal our country away from us.

We won't stand by to let this happen twice. I'm sorry, we as a party and as a nation should let it be known that each and every single vote in this election WILL be counted.

Although, i'm pretty damn optimistic that our man will win this thing decisively TONIGHT.

I'm off to vote! See you guys at the party!

32. In 2000 we acted like a third world country.
We are still the U. S. of A, but we have now experienced a coup and
did nothing about it. If we sit still for another one, then we are
a nation of cowards, unworthy of of our own heritage.

They never could have pulled off the coup of 2000 without the
acquienscense of the population. If we had fought loudly and
stridently then, we would not be in this mess now. And now we have
The Patriot Act which allows the idiot in office to declare anyone
a terrorist. In Bush's universe, where no dissent is tolerated,
what do you think will happen to anyone who protests another political
coup in the good old U. S. of A?

16. If they steal it again, there better be!
If we roll over and get ass-fucked again, we deserve it.

To paraphrase Theoden before the battle of Helms Deep, "If this be the end, let us make an end to be remembered."

I've been watching LotR the past couple of nights just to escape from the overdose of speculation and propagandizing. And I will again tonight, after working the polls for Move.On after work.

I feel that it would be better to take down the entire farce that used to be America if it is so far gone as to be unrecognizable, and unendurable.

37. if there are riots, look to the republicans. either because their guy
didn't win, or to make democrats look bad in case bush does win.

i wouldn't participate in a riot. but i would participate in a protest that shut down the country. and that's exactly what i think should happen if bush steals this.

there aren't enough cops or soldiers in this land to stop a couple million pissed off democrats who decide to descend on washington.

should the need for organized protest arise, i think economic boycotts, strikes, and work stoppages would be the most effective way to show that we aren't going to take it.

beyond that, i think harrassment and mischief directed at right-wing talk show hosts is the next step -- pies in their faces, callers taking over and dominating their shows for a week or two on end, confrontation when they're seen in public, boycotting of their advertisers.

i know the freepers are talking big about their guns and hunkering down in the bunker. which is cute in a silly sort of way. but if the republicans have any ambition of being a party in the next 10-15 years, they may want to step aside this time and rebuild their party. otherwise, it will probably be open season --literally and figuratively -- on republicans.

50. Riots? No. Impeachment and indictments? Most likely.
The Republicans themselves have declared that war begins in their own party tomorrow. They will help bring these guys down if that's what it takes.

That said, let's hope and pray (if that's your thing) that it doesn't come to that. It was awful enough 30 years ago with Nixon to have to relive that nightmare and worse now.

Failing impeachment and indictments, there would most likely be a lame-duck presidency that would see its major policy initiatives thwarted at every turn. Failing that, the country marches like lemmings over the cliff into the abyss, but I don't think that will happen.

I often wonder if I should leave NYC because it's so vulnerable to nuclear attack and I'm only a few miles from ground zero if IT were to happen. You guys on the mainland are luckier: you have a way out that doesn't involve crossing bodies of water. I think choosing to stay here is a vote for sanity returning, and remaining, in our government somehow. So I'm staying put and putting the fear away. This mess will resolve itself one way or another, and I'm betting on the brighter scenario, on my fellow citizens doing what is right and saving us all.
