the DNC called and left us a message with the WRONG polling place!! |
|
We already voted here in Wisconsin, but an Iowa number (we have caller ID) just called and left a message with Kerry's voice talking about jobs and then someone said "hang on for your polling place" and then they gave the WRONG polling place- totally wrong.
Does this sound fishy? I've gotten a lot of phone calls and all of them have had our polling place correct. It was Kerry's voice and said it was paid for by the K/E campaign and the DNC.
What should I do? I am going to try to call the DNC now.

Keep the recording, and report it to your state's elections authority (Secretary of State or what-have-you). We'll sap a few dollars out of their campaign coffers for next time through some fines over their misbehavior this time.
Oh, and call your local television or radio station too.

19. Get this - Caller ID can be spoofed to show a different number |
|
Slated for launch this week, Star38.com would offer subscribers a simple Web interface to a Caller ID spoofing system that lets them appear to be calling from any number they choose. "It creates an extra avenue for them to have someone pick up the phone," says founder Jason Jepson.
Caller ID spoofing has for years been within the reach of businesses with certain types of digital connections to their local phone company, and more recently has become the plaything of hackers and pranksters exploiting permissive voice over IP systems. But Star38.com appears to be the first stab at turning Caller ID spoofing into a commercial venture. Jepson claims the service will charge a twenty-five cent connection fee for each call, and seven to fourteen cents per minute.
SecurityFocus took the site for a test drive, and found it worked as advertised. The user fills out a simple Web form with his phone number, the number he wants to call, and the number he wants to appear to be calling from. Within two seconds, the system rings back, and patches the user through to the destination. The recipient sees only the spoofed number displayed on Caller ID. Any number works, from nonsense phone numbers like "123 4567" to the number for the White House switchboard.http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/08/30/caller_id_falsify/

13. Durn tootin' it's fishy. |
|
Only your county clerk's office or the township where you vote can inform you your precinct is changed.
Call your county Democratic party immediately and report this so they can take steps to warn the public.
Then, report this on the appropriate DU thread.

14. I called the DNC and here is the number!! |
|
Okay- they took an incident report at the DNC here in Madison and she had already had one other person call about this. She took the number and I am keeping the message in case they need it. She said it was VERY fishy.
Here is the number: 641.749.3098 (an Iowa caller on our caller ID)
I called it and it just has a digital answering service.
it was the recorded voice of Kerry- sounded like from a commmerical or stump speach.
I am looking up the address given now as it sounds bogus to me
